I just want to start out by saying that this is a great site and forum, and I find this community even more useful then the official Guild Wars site itself.
That being said, I think that if you had the ability to make markers on the map, and to add a little info about that point, it could provide a useful tool to navigating the huge area that is Guild Wars. I don't mean instant travel places like the cities, but markers that let you know where certain collectors and material traders are, and what they collect/ make. Or perhaps the marking certain areas that aren't a place to teleport to, like the Ascalon Settlement.

As an addition to your idea, how about if those markers could act as waypoints like the mission waypoint markers and you could select the one you want and it would give you an arrow on your radar?

Yeah, I've been asking for map markers for a long time:
1 color that shows where your teammates are. (just dots, not trails)
and another color to have a marker to label areas, maybe only 10-15 characters allowed:
"meet here"
"this is the boss"
"dont go here"
"important collector"

Splawk... This idea is splawk. Or would that be a verb?... yes... this idea splawks!!!! I'd also like to be able to draw on the "U" minimap (or can you, I haven't actually tried) and AND AND why can't we see our teamates locations on the minimap and/or the real map???
All these ideas, plus drawing on the minimap, totally splawk!

Map markers would be awesome... I always forget where collectors are (thankfully they don't usually have anything of interest to me). Being able to leave notes on top of having map markers would be postively splendid!

Well thank you for the compliments, but its not really my idea. I use to play Neverwinter Nights a lot, the idea came from there. Though it was a less useful feature there, since there were several small maps, not one big one.
Ah, I remember my rouge character. Stealth and Speed. I hope to see one in future expansions.
