Anyone know if there is a quest to get this skill and if so where?

Maybe read the "Skill Trainers" below it on the page?

Get it from Captain Greywind in the Ascalon Settlement, north of Lion's Arch.

The skill description doesn't say the number of meteors that hit or the amount of time they fall. Is it a single meteor, or are there multiple ones?

Meteor is a single meteor.
Meteor Shower is about 1 every second or so for roughly 10 seconds...maybe a little less. Each one hits for about 100pts of dmg. I've noticed that maybe only every other meteor actually hits. So maybe it is 10 seconds, with 100 dmg every 2 seconds? + knockdown of course.

You can actually avoid this skill completely if you start running when the spell is finished casting as it takes some time before the first meteor hits.

Probably takes some time as the meteors have to come down from orbit.

Got a question about it though... It says that it knocks down anyone it hits. I'm assuming any "enemies" it hits and it doesn't include the tank that is holding them in place

Wandering my own road.

I only ever see 3 hits from meteor shower, at precisely timed intervals. The animation is totally irrelavent to the effect. (You'll see meteors hitting the ground with no effect at all at the start of it.)

The AoE isn't that large, and there's about a ~2-3 second delay before the first actual hit strikes, followed by about the same interval for each of the other 2 strikes.

This skill rocks in PVE but tough to work with in PVP. Pairing this up with other AOEs is where it really shines.

Meteor Shower->FireStorm->SearingHeat->Fireball

That combo can take out most bosses as long the target doesn't go running off. You really need Fire Attunement to make the most of these big energy spells.

The Fire Imps in the RIng of Fire Isles like to use this one often.
It does a ton of damage plus knockdown, but the area of effect is very small.
A quick sidestep is all that is required to escape its effects in most cases.

in pvp you need to pair this with meteor. If a target is standing somewhat still cast shower as soon as its done cast meteor that will gaurantee 2 hits if 100+ the meteor holds them in place for the first hit of the shower

MS is not PvP friendly. If it is to be used properly,it should be used in conjunctionj with a hammer warrior using backbreaker/Aftershock. The length of the knockdown gives the time to cast MS and get at least 2 meteor strikes in. MS also does dmg depending on the fire attribute investment, not on the spell alone. However,Fire isn't used regularly in PvP,since the AoE spells like MS and Firestorm can be totally dodged or disrupted. It's decent for PvE,and Echo nukers went the way of the dinosaurs as far as Fire Echo Nuking goes.

Look at gamepressure.com for great maps.

As for Meteor Shower and Meteor, read the skill descriptions.

Meteor Shower is sometimes used for disrupting monk bosses, but even there I've seen problems. Brohn once put up Mark of Protection between meteors ...

And it only takes...85 energy+20 points of exhaustion...

This is an ok skill in PvE and no one should EVER use it in PvP unless it's an AB or something.

That combo can take out most bosses as long the target doesn't go running off. You really need Fire Attunement to make the most of these big energy spells. You shouldn't use Meteor Shower with an AoE like Firestorm that scatters (unless there's a very good snare on all the enemies). This will defeat the point of your MS becuase they will scatter after the first hit usually. And just for those still wondering about how many times it hits..."For 9 seconds, foes adjacent to that location are struck for 7-91 fire damage and knocked down every 3 seconds." Do a little math, the visual means nothing.

Here's a map on how to get to Ascalon Settlement:

The only time it works awsomely well in pvp was when they used to do MM in pvp. The whole starting area would be full of players and minions and an echo nukers would totally devestate them. It was cool.

I quit using FS totally and have stuck with MS. A good combination is to hit them with MS and while they are getting knocked down, hit them with Rodgorts Invocation and then Fireball. They are close to dead after that.

Recently Meat Shower (as its called) as had a second awakening in PvP (it had always been used in AB, I mean organized forms).

It then became WILDLY popular for a few weeks after the GWFC because iQ's "VoD" build for the champoinships exploited how much Meat Shower PWNS FACE at VoD vs NPCs.

Now an ele will carry it alot in HA to pop on an altar where the battle usually is clustered.

ALways used with Glyph of Sac of course. It doesnt matter that it recharges in like 90 secs after that, its for that Pinch instant cast use anyway.

It lasts for 9 seconds, therefore it strikes 3 times total and typically hits for about 100 each time, depending of course on how much you've alloted to fire magic. This skill is a favorite for FoW, because of the fact that it doesnt scatter foes AS MUCH... making it easier for tanks to hold them. (VS fire storm, breath of fire, and other such spells that strike every second... and scatter foes horribly, ever since the update that causes foes to scatter almost immidiately from AoE effects.). You can buy it from Capt Greywind in the Ascalon Settlement, and as far as I know this is the ONLY place you can buy it. (Prophecies Campaign, closest to Bergen Hot Springs).

Oh, wanted to say as well.. yes I do realize how old this thread is... just though there seemed to be an awful lot of confusion and anyone coming across this thread might like a little clarification without having to read through all comments to get the gist. lol
