Should people test out builds in PvP before posting them up?

I see a lot of people posting PvP builds that they haven't actually tried. A few of the more knowledgable posters on this board will then look at the build and pick it apart.
I think it would be useful when people posted up builds for PvP or PvE to state whether or not they have actually used it and what the results were. As it is, I see a lot of people making up builds that are flawed or a simply not possible (by adding skills that rely on your secondary class' primary ability or by equipping two elites, for example).

Anyway, that's just how I see it. I don't see anything wrong about making up builds and posting them here, but it would just be really helpful to me if it is stated if the build was actually used or not.

Also, sometimes I see people...well....bragging. Sort of like this: "My N/W can destroy 3 sand drakes in under 20 seconds with 90% health!". That's great, but without supplying the build you use, it doesn't mean anything to me or anyone else.

I think I have seen two main problems...

First: some post PvE builds that are flawed PvP because of the different dynamic to the flow of combat when you face an actual person.

Second: Even your post is flawed in the fact that you can use skills that rely on the primary ability of your second class - you just won't get the best results out of them if they are dependant on that attribute. Some skills in the primary area are NOT improved by the primary attribute though.

Third: I think every build post should do the following:

Build Style: (PvE, PvP, GvG, or all)
Build Levels: (some builds are built at a level below 20 - and that information would assist people still leveling up)

Strenghts: (the poster should list the strenghts)

Weaknesses: (the poster should list the weaknesses - because perhaps they KNOW the weaknesses the detractors will post and this short circuit the attacks)

Should people post builds for PvP without trying them ? Of course they should. Asking for a second opinion before you embarass yourself because of a really basic flaw is a perfectly sensible thing to do. A second opion is never a bad thing, even if it only re-focuses your own ideas.

Of course, somebody coming in and saying 'look at my ub3r build' without having ever used it is asking for trouble. To be honest though, I think that says everything you need to know about the poster and the quality of their build, so it makes the actual post content somewhat irrelevant.

I say post away.

If they're trying to be 1337 asking for [how awesome is my build] then by all means people will rip it to shreds since every build in existance has obvious weaknesses here and there.

Just post. If you're smart and notice what people are saying, then hey, more power to you! ^_^
