So, I'm a level 3 W/R, and I'm trying to charm one of the bears in Wizard's Folley to be my pet. But, every time I try using Charm Animal on it, it uses a skill called Break Charm or something, and it interrupts my casting.
Now, why does it do this? Is it because it is a red dot on the minimap and is considered an enemy? Also, is there a way to counteract this skill so I am able to charm it? I was thinking if this skill uses energy, I could bring a Mesmer along to drain it's energy, but would this work? Or can I only charm bears later in the game? Feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Possibly your beast mastery attribute doesn't have a high enough level. That is the most probable scenario...

Bears cannot be tamed in pre-searing without a teammate and a specific set of spells. Don't bother trying, unless you want to search the site for exactly what you need.

Could probably get it with a hammer warrior on your team, ne?

Absolutely no need for this thread. There are countless posts about charmable animals and in ALL of them is states what bears do.
Search, search and search again.

I would recommend the course of action I'm taking for my pet, much easier if you have a guild: Once I get post-sear, I'm getting a guildie to rush me to the area my pet is (in your case, yak's bend, should be easy) so I can get my pet straight away. This way, my pet levels alongside me instead of highlevel me/ lowlevel pet
