What are you other players spending Gold on??
asdar
I just don't get all the threads about farming and gold. I've never played a game where gold was easier to get. I get to Draknars and just buy all the parchment and feathers and steel I need, I don't even salvage and still I'm overflowing with gold.
It's not far reaching to think I could buy my own sigil in one weekend of play. Not through farming, just through trying to join exciting groups and playing the game.
I have the max off hand Ankh and main hand rod for a monk in my opinion and back up armor for melee/elemental/power set ups. I've got runes in my back up armor.
I just don't have anything else to buy and I'm not a hard core player. I'm barely a notch above a casual player.
I know I'm not bright or better than everyone else. I do stupid things like buy my Leg armor twice and basically throwing away that gold. Maybe if I knew what items other people are wanting to buy I'd understand a little better some of these complaints.

First, there is the 15K armor. Total: 75K for a warrior 60K for a non-warrior. I am buying this now, because I do not want to risk loosing a Superior rune when I do get it, which I must.
Seccond, I would spend moey on runes, if I had 99K for a Superior Absorbsion, I would have one. Or superior vigor, I need two cannot aford one.
Weapons, two level 20's have run through this game for me and I still have not found what I am looking for, or found someone sell it hat a price I can afford. Maybe you find everything you could ask for, but I find nothing I can use (almost all ranger stuff, and I am not a ranger).

Most people aren't farming for gold. Not really. They're farming for skill points and un-identified to runes.

Yeah, I've got nearly 100K - most of which I got just from selling items I've found while doing quests, missions, and killing for fun.
I'm just hanging onto it because I have yet to buy my 75K armor (I'm waiting to see the re-design of the Aeromancer Set before actually purchasing it), and I want to find myself a really nice fire staff, rather than wand/offhand item, so I could add mods to the fire staff. On top of that, I still have runes to get.. haven't decided what element to buy a Superior for. I'll be poor once I make all my decisions ^_^
I did spend over 5K though to treat a few of my guild members to some Dwarven Ale. Someone got promoted to Officer yesterday, and we had a drunken ale dance party in the Guild Hall.

you can't farm for gold in old ascalon, unless you kill bunch of monsters while your party-less.
i heard that later on, that players can get 100 or more gold drop per monster they killed.
As for me, i spend gold for armors and weapons!

ManadartheHealer
I spend gold on getting more gold (play the market, make rare crafting materials, etc.)... haven't bought armour in awhile and I have never bought a weapon (just customize whatever crap I find )

I just spend 11k to buy 20 skills for one character from a skill trainer.
Just buy each set of 15k armor if you like. try the underworld versions of them.

Spend alot on weapons and runes. Won't bother with the 15k armour until they get a druid version that looks cool and quite different from the standard one. Or does it have a unique graphic set already?
Eclair
I think the 15k druid set dyes differently. The normal set, only the bamboo dyes right? In the 15k set, the bamboo doesn't dye, but the armor itself does. I saw a all pink female ranger in druids yesterday
I spend my money on 15k armor, and dyes, and more armor, and more dyes...
Also saving up for a nice sword or bow

LOL @ "I have a dye habit"
Umm you've run thru the game with two diff builds and can't afford a Sup Rune??? Ok, I may be different here but since I didn't jump from mission to mission but rather took quests, adventured thru areas rather than skipping it all and have just passed my ascension.....it wasn't hard to acquire 35-40Plat...in fact I didn't even really pay attention to it. Granted sine the 15K armour doesn't get you better AL over the 1.5.......no need to worry bout building bank for that, the Rune vendor sells the Sup Vig for 16plat (well that's what it listed it at last nite)....again thats no biggie.
Hell now that I"m fused and mostly skill hunting and helping other players/guildies with quests and making my way further into the game.....I'm sure I'll recoup my Rune expense (if I actually buy one)....in no time.

Last night when I checked the price of Sup Vigor, it was at 100 plat. Shocked it would ever get as low as 16. Sup Absorption was also 100 plat.

Starsky-sama
same w/ sup. swords.(havent checked this evening) i dont remember seeing the price for it yet.
anyone with the trader price for it?
anyone with the trader price for it?

I think around 20-25k, it fluctuates quite a bit between those prices.
Ensign
Super Swords and Super Fire are both in the low 30s. They might drop down to high 20s during off-peak hours.
Super Vigor and Super Absorption are both 100k at the trader. For what it's worth, Absorption is worth more.
Peace,

Since you seem to be interested, my Necromancer/Mo, that used to be a Necromancer/Ele has four quests left. All of them are the "*.*'s Path" quests. My W/Mo is at Thunderhead Keep, and was farming for one day before the last update that made farming no fun. He has done every skill quest to date, but I was saving all the Exp quests for after ascention, so that they would count towards skill points (my Necro has 0 and is 2,000 exp from getting another). I always pick up gold, and drops.
So, before you assume that anyone just jumped through the missions to get to level 20, you might ask.
Sure, I play more than the standard casual player (somewhere around 300-400 hours now), but that does not mean I skipp the hard parts to get past you. In fact I am proud to say that I logged on to the servers within 5 minutes of them being open on release for the pre-order customers (2:00 am where I live, and went to school at 9:00am).
And for the reccord, I have never seen a Superior Vigor at the trader. If I had I would pee myself if they only cost 16K, but I don't camp at the trader and wait fo them to show up.

I'm a terrible alcoholic. I blow all my cash on booze so I can pass out behind the Xunai Storage bin. *hic!*

i use my money on dyes, beer, and um... beer... umm... oopsies. i try to save up for celestrial sigil he he

i too farm so that i can afford dwarven ale.

saving up for the rest of my 15K hydromancer armour (like i had in beta), having purchased a celestial sigil (from the US servers, so much cheaper there). The silly thing is, the sigil is more for the future as i left the guild i was in because it was never seriously going to grow.
so atm i'm mixing up PvP with what could be considered 'farming' though with the prices of minor and major runes being so low its more of a hope for a major vigor or absorption. I'm just glad that my superior vigor survived two salvage kits...

My last "large" purchase was a skill. My first character's next skill point is 530 gold (thankfully, I'm running out of skills I think will be useful for her). Before that, I bought 3/4 of the 15k rogue's armor.

I'm still at a loss how everyone gets all their $...
I'm a Ranger/Monk at level 20 I've ascended and I'm at the iron mines of moladune... I only have 1k about... not to mention that I havent bought anything since Lions Arch...?
I still havent gotten any runes... & the game is getting boring...? Why?
I've only been playing for 152 hours....! Yes I know that it's unhealthy sitting @ the computer for about 13 hours every day but still...

Buying skills from the trainers. Gotta get them all
john little
once you've completed the game the only real things to do are: get a guild hall if your guild doesn't have one; get the 15k armour sets; do the ToA missions; get all runes/skills; PvP. You can start new PvE characters but I find the PvE tends to be a lot more rushed as you know the routes and shortcuts etc.
The average mission will yield ~1-1.5P, a completed Fissure can get you ~6P, finding a decent rune (i.e. major absorption, vigour or above) gets you 10P+.

I got about 150k total and I'm not spending it on anything because there's nothing to buy. I got all my superior, major, and minor runes from farming before it was nerfed. I also farmed my own weapons and focus items so there's no need to buy them. I don't care about the 15k armor at all. So basically I have money sitting around with nothing to spend it on, and I'm still accumulating more money each day.

A lot of people farm to make real money...like actual money. Check out eBay and search for Guild Wars. Seems the best way to make real life dollars is to farm farm and farm some more and sell 200,000 gold for $20.

Staff upgrades. It's an freaking addiction once you start.
My Monk has 2 Staves, My Mesmer has 2, and my elementalist has 4 all with Max damage, 20/20, and the best upgrades possible...each.
I am thinking about naming them...

I spend most of my gold on keys and skills.
Also, I had no idea sup absorbsion runes were valuable again. I have one in my monk's storage I was thinking about giving away.
EDIT: nvm I see now it's an old thread.

Who unburries these topics?
My one thought after figuring out that the rune prices for sup. sword were a bit higher than I'm used to.. and discovering the topic was started over a year ago.
