I prefer to do some PvE, but mostly I am PvP focused.
SSE4
I actually haven't played yet, but I doubt my attitude will change in this game. I am not typically concerned with PvP unless I find PvE boring. Obviously if I eventually find myself the owner of a very nice set of items and a good, solid character build, I will naturally PvP more often, it's just not one of the main reasons I play.
BlackArrow
I am equaly interested in PvE and PvP. I love the missions and explorable areas, but also love the strategy of the PvP areas.

Why limit yourself? =)
In my opinion, PvP without PvE is like icing without cake. And I consider myself a pretty hardcore PvPer after almost 5 years of playing UO back in the day.

I see no reason to play GW's for the PvE, its just not very compelling at all to me, its MMORPG Lite. The PvP is what makes this game and its miles ahead of the competition.

The point is that we have the option for both! That is whats exciting about the game, one day you can jump into a mission or area with some friends or Guildmates and just have some fun. The next day or even hour you can jump into the arena and PvP or GvG and then go back to Pve, what could be better?

I Don't know about that, there is more challange in PvP, but I like seing the new areas to explore as well. If all I say was the same settings day after day I'd get kind of bored (but maybe that's just me ) |

Myself and my wife dont really PVP much. We have played all the mmos to date. The last been WoW, with 4 characters to 60. We are extremely bored with WoW, and have canceled our accounts. I know nothing about this game, but the forums are excellent, and filled with people that answer your questions unlike other forms.

They're both insanely addicting. I plan for all my characters to do both. Though it may take some time before my monk is "ready" to handle the Tombs

I haven't played much of either yet, but my preference is generally for PvE.
I'm sure I'll do some PvP too though.

I've only done PvE so far, but that's probably more a result of the number of friends I have playing than anything else. Once I can get more friends to play (and make more friends in-game) I expect to spend a good amount of time in PvP and GvG.
And since I mentioned the friends in-game: if you haven't already, check out the GW "Phone Book" here. A nice idea for hooking up in-game with people we've met in the forums.
Ciao,

also you will have to pve some if you want to unlock skills for your pvp
PawnBoy
I'll probably spend the majority of my game time in PVE. But PVP serves as a great swith if you get tired of failing a mission, or get fed up with trying to get a party. Also, as a (probably) primarily summoning based necro, my initial PVP abilities will be low.
P.S. Loviatar's got a point, if you want the skills for PVP you gotta pay for em with some cold hard PVE.

I guess I would lean more towards the PvE aspect of the game, but that doesn't mean I don't like to throw in some PvP every now and then if I can't find a party to jump in with.
Soiled Egg Roll
In betas, I mainly play PvP. I do hope to get into PvE more often after release, though. I don't like doing things too many times, so I've decided to keep the PvE fresh and not really play it until release.

i will start doin mainly PvE, and if my character is nice and solid, i will definitely do lots of PvP. I plan on a mix, so i can get the best out of the game.

I definately prefer PvE because in my experiences PvP has a lot of 12 year old kids who never stop bragging and rarely play you in a fair game. I already know like 5 people from Counter-Strike: Source and a friend from way back who are going to play so we are just going to set up a casual guild scene and play the game PvE style (at first anyway, I can't say I will never play PvP but unless GW brings something new to the table on that I probably won't)

Sin
GuildWars PVE is an entirely different world too (It would have to be to be preparing you for PVP and the expansions). I have done the mission to Lyon's Arch from Kyrta at least 50 times and completed it 12-15 times. A few parts of it are similar but most of it is not identical. I tend to believe this is because of the 8 professions x 75 possible skills and the varying mix of each team.
I have been through the post-Lyon's Arch missions about half the amount I have went to Lyon's Arch. As of yet these have never been the same. I can't find a pattern to them see, but I am not all that bright that way. I just know these missions and the exploring in between have yet to get boring. Many times my team is challenged and half of us get zero exp for the mob we killed. Besides nothing beats the tremendous selection of incredible scenery in missions and exploration areas and the ability to stop and enjoy it, do a screen capture, etc.

So Sin, are you going to help a fledling guild get out to Lion's Arch then during the next BWE?
Did I say please?
Or do you respond better to..... NOW!

Right now, I'm really into the PvE stuff and can't wait to see what new missions await us in the full retail version. But I also have to say PvP is almost like a whole new game. It's more exciting (many times intimidating) than PvE in many different ways. Either way, you can't lose!

Am PvE minded. Maybe once I get one or two up there, I might have a go at PvP (hence I voted both), but I am primarily an explorer.
Side note : I concur with Loviator.. very easy to be a pasty smear on ground in PvE. (1st hand knowledge as well)

...im pretty much a complete noob at MMORPGs...so i was just wondering what PvE and GvG mean...PvP means player versus player, right?
Aria
PvE = Player vs. Environment. In other words, against NPCs, or the game itself. PvP.. yes, player vs. player
GvG is Guild vs. Guild.
GvG is Guild vs. Guild.
SereneD
I voted PVP.
WARNING: The following are only my opinions and yours will probably differ:
I'm only doing PvE in this game because I have to. The PvP structure is what interested me the most. I will PvE only to improve the equipment and increase my available skills.
The PvP design in this game is unlike any other ONLINE games that I have played. I relate the PvP in this game to a chess game. Trying to anticipate your opponents move and being able to counter them properly. Power alone won't win matches, because strategy will be more important.
With all the different tactics that can be incorporated into team based PvP. I can see this game challenging my analytical mind for a long time.
I can see myself getting real bored of killing the same Mob , using the same AI, standing at the same location within the PVE. That's why I'm glad that there are only 20 levels in this game so I can get to the fun part(PvP) as soon as possible.

So far, I've mostly done PvE, which I've enjoyed quite a bit. Last BWE, I jumped into a bit of PvP, and liked it more than I expected.
I'd say I prefer PvE, but will definitely like mixing in some PvP.
