My account just got blocked... ???

i was questing in ascalon and out of nowhere i get sent back to the login screen with message stating that someone else logged in my account. Now my account has been blocked. It says it will stay blocked for a couple of hours.

ummmm... what the hell is about ?

maybe that called account banned? im not sure... and how does it get blocked?

Contact the support staff. This sounds like your account was stolen

Yeah, sounds like that hack/bot you downloaded had a key-logger option built in.

i never used a keylogger/bot. why would i spent 50 bucks on a game and use a bot knowing that it will get shutdown.

Possibly someone go lucky with a key generator. Don't have friends, roommates, or family members that may be playing GW or had acccess to your cd key did you? Need to talk to ANet's support staff on it.

also how did they know it would be a couple hours and not half the day?

It looks like they're doing a crackdown on inappropriate behavior and/or inappropriate names in the game. Your character name in game wouldn't be on "socially unacceptable" side would it?

thats the normal behavior for the game when someone logs in with the same account

Yeah but then when he tried to login again why did it say his account was blocked? Sounds to me like the new ANet bot-detection code looked at his activity and decided (wrongly) that he was acting like a bot so they kicked him and blocked his account.

How were you questing? Solo? Henches? Other people? Were you constantly zoning back and forth?

To test the "account theft" idea, try clicking on the "i forgot my password" link when you start GW before logging in. I dunno what it does, but maybe it generates a new password and emails it to ya.

The key is just used to create the account, at which point it is permanantly bound to that account. Once it's created, even if someone managed to generate the the same key, it wouldn't do them any good. To log into his account they'd need his account name (email) and password. So either somebody that knows him has his email and was able to guess his password, or got sniffed.
