Runes

Can someone please explain to me about the runes? How they are used and for what and anything else you think I might need to know?

Runes are something you attach to your armor

Minor = +1 to skill
Major = +2 to skill, -50 hitpts
Superior = +3 to skill, -75 hitpts


example,
if im an elementalist with a rank 12 in Fire magic and with 450 hitpts

if I apply a superior fire rune to my armor,
I now have rank 15 in fire magic but my hitpts are lowered to only 375




you cannot mix and max runes of same type
- only the best rune will be used

if I used a +1 minor rune and +3 superior rune that were both Fire
-- I would only get an overall bonus of +3



Special note:
Vigor - has no hitpt penalty

Can you apply runes to weapons?

double click on the rune you want to use, and then click on the piece of armor you want it on.
Runes can only be used on armor.

I dont know what is the appropiate term for your skill level
(I used the term "rank")

but whatever you spend your attribute points on -- is what im talking about

unmodified without gear/runes, highest you can get is 12


when you are 20 and have done 2 desert+ quests,
you will have 200 attribute points to spend on your class skills

if I was an E/mo
Id have to choose between fire/earth/water/air/energy storage/ monk skills




runes are for *armor only*

weapons have other kinds of mods

also

I dont recommend using superior runes until you are wearing your level 20+ armor

you can change armor alot in GuildWars

the only way to get your used runes back is by salvaging your old armor with an Expert Salvage kit and cross your fingers that the rune wont be destroyed
