No party, no Camp Krankor
Pandora's box
This is the 2nd weekend I try to do the Lornar pass to Camp Krankor. I have a level 20 mo/w, healing/smite. Until now every passing the Lornar pass has failed. Either the party is way too weak (levels 15 and lower) or its level 20's but with too little healing. It has happened several times they went back to town to find a healing monk to replace me Well what can I do??? I heal... a bit. My healing prayers are level 10 but when I use heal party I lose halve of my energy, and when I use healing breeze on everyoneI run out of energy too sooner or later. I'm out of options right now. Waiting on a Europe server for a decent party takes a long time and when I get kicked because they want a better healer I can forget about it for the next hour. Sigh.

What primary profession are you? It says in your profile you're a Monk primary... how can they want a 'better' healer? Monk primaries are the best healers.
As for getting to Camp Rankor, you know that going south out of Beacon's Point isn't the ONLY way to get there, right? You can head NW out of Droknar's Forge, and get there much faster and easier. You just have to have Ascended and gone through the Dragon's Lair mission (which is really easy).

You tried to get to Camp Rankor by going south from beacon's perch?????
Wow, a very admirable thought, but near impossible. If I remember correctly, there are a number of missions around the Rankor area where it takes around 15 minutes to get there (I henched it)

If your character isn't ascended yet, I believe it is close to the crystal desert since you're level 20. Do the 3 missions ( Elona, Thirsty river, and Dunes of despair ), beat your mirror wich is relatively easy and start from Droknar's Forge. Doing the run from Beacon's Perch is really long and difficult.

I tried going south through beacon's perch solo with my monk.
I got pretty far, actually, you just have to avoid aggro, and dodge around the maelstroms and self-heal a lot...
...but all the self-healing and etc won't do JACK when the twin frost wurms rip you to pieces near the entrance to the first cave, knock you down, Feast of Corruption, dead.

Getting to Rankor from Beacons is quite easy if you have 2 W/R with Balanced Stance and Sprint/etc... - my guild has run a group of alts through there using only two people as runners. Fighting is a waste of time honestly, considering most people who are taking that route can't even beat the Ascenscion missions (which are easier than that path)
I love when people complain about the wurms.. there are only two which are nothing like the things you gotta face in Deldrimor Bowl - where you have to run by groups of 5-6 tundra giants all loaded with fresh giant stomps. (the secret is to stop at safe points and wait for Balanced Stance to reload :P)

"Charge!" + Balanced Stance for the win!
My guild got 6 lvl 20s together (except one who was lvl 17) and did the trip. We killed everything on the way down instead of running or whatever. It took us 4 hours to do. The only place where we didn't fight was Dreadnaught's Drift, because it was insane. Especially when your party has around 30 dp.

I am going to ask a question, possibly stupid
When people want to run alts down to Camp Rankor, are they just wanting to hit Copperhead Mine early to get skill?
Can you get to Crystal Desert from Southern Shiverpeak? i.e. Finishing the asension missions, beat mirror and get bumped to level 20 immediately.

Thanks for the replies. I did not know I could get there by defeating the mirror and next the Dragons lair. So I'll concentrate on that. As for the parties: all tried to run until the first worms and than started to fight, which sometimes directly and sometimes a bit farther resulted in parties death

Theres many easy solutions:
- Change to the american server. there are lots of ppl and less idiots (err serious playing ppl) (procentually, not quantitatative).
- Delete your stupid Warriormonk and start some intelligent class.
- Just start a Monk yourself.
- Start being a more intelligent Warriormonk that can survive without 2-4 monks in his team.
I made the pass as Mesmer with 5 hencheman a WarriorMonk (that could suwvive easily withpout monks) and a WarriorMesmer. We killed everything everywere and never ran trough anything.
Dreagnouts drift is EASY compared to what iis on the NorthWESTern path of it, but we killed it.

IMO a Ranger/Warrior or Warrior/Ranger seems best suited to running Lornar's, or even anywhere else. Ranger has their own speed boost as well as the ability to dodge attacks. Warriors have Charge and Sprint, as well as anti-knockdown.

Signet of Devotion - Free heal every 5 seconds. With this, you won't lose energy if your group is only taking light damage.
Vigorous Spirit - This costs half what Healing Breeze does and usually heals more over the course of the spell, although it doesn't heal nearly as fast. It's cheap and spammable, which sets off Divine Favor.
Divine Boon - This will significantly increase your energy consumption, but it will also significantly increase your energy efficiency. Use Signet of Devotion (because it doesn't set Divine Boon off) to heal small amounts, and other spells to heal large amounts.
Reversal of Fortune - Try using this instead of Orison. It has the same cost and cooldown, but casts significantly faster. If you're taking heavy damage, then it can heal about 75% better than Orison (in the best case scenario). If you're taking light damage, then you aren't having energy complications in the first place.
Divine Intervention - Instead of burning mana healing someone who is about to die, cast this on them. It's a lot more efficient than Heal Other.
There are some elites, too:
Peace and Harmony - You won't be able to have any offensive capabilities, but you'll have another point of energy regen.
Word of Healing - A good Heal Other replacement. More energy efficient and just as effective on a character under half health.
Mark of Protection - You have to sacrifice your protection spells for 10 seconds, but you also make a character practically invulnerable in PvE. Much more efficient than using a half-dozen Orisons to keep a reckless elementalist alive.
If you don't want to switch points out of Smiting to go with a standard Protection/Healing/Divine Favor setup, then you better warn your party that you're a secondary healer, before you go into combat. Otherwise, they will get pissed when you can't heal as well as a primary healer.

Ollj, I never call anyone out but you are lying here.
You never made the trip from Beacons perch through Dreadnoughts and Snake's with 5 henchmen a mes and a warrior killing everything.
It didn't happen that way, I can guarantee it.
I've seen people run the zone, that takes zero skill and anyone bragging about that may as well brag about adding 2+2=4 cause it's no more difficult. Getting there with a party does take skill and dedication.
Personally, I think if you're a smiting monk then smite. Tell the group to treat you like an elemental and that they need a healing monk. Some won't listen but that's really what you are.
The thing is in Lornar's the actual monk needs to focus heal. He can't be healing other monks or elementals or any other class than warrior. The real key to Lornar's is just knowing how to avoid aggro and let the monsters group on the warrior and then damaging with high efficiency skills.
If you have one or two big heals to help the main monk out with that's cool but damage is what you're about, and the party should know that up front.
