Do the Villainy of Garlath quest and you'll find out.

Not much of a spoiler, is it?
Villainy of Galrath ends just near that floating island, yeah. But I don't believe it has anything to do with it beyond proximity, though.

It would have been cool if there had been a quest associated with finding an entrance to and then exploring that wizard's tower...

In my experience, Guild Wars' game engine is not good at making vertical explorable areas, such as a castle/tower.

Guild Wars' game engine is not much good at anything at all beyond very simple visual effects. The fact that there are invisible walls just about everywhere, you cant jump, and you are very limited in where you can move. Many, MANY, times I get stuck somewhere, or get trapped by like 2 monsters not even in a corner where there is CLEARLY a HUGE path that I could go through but the monsters have an extra large invisible wall around them. Also many times I find myself behind teleported back (lag/desynch/?) The hellhounds in sanctum cay were a good example. One time they surrounded me but my toon kept going so I thought I was out..but once I got to a certain spot I was teleported back and could go forward again....and all the time the hellhounds were all hitting me from like a mile away. That is half netcode but the gaming engine still sucks. Sure the mountains and terrain are pretty, but id rather have a more friendly environment.
Also in sanctum cay in the very beginning i would run down the ramp, and turn sharply to go through the bridge...EVERY time it would teleport me back and put me around the corner of the bridge (like i missed the opening to the bridge) so id have to backup and go through again. And i have a very fast DSL connection....retarded.

That's a lag issue I think Josh. I get it often and it's very annoying. I actually quite like the game engine, it produces some nice effects, loads very quickly and runs quite fast. The invisible walls and jumping is probably more of a design issue than an engine issue.

even if it has no use, deco? would you like to see all the place that has no meaning black?

Lag or not, I have a VERY fast DSL connection why the hell should I be lagging? It is not a overly huge problem but it gets very damned annoying, and the fact that it tends to happen in same damn spots seems to me that it isnt lag. And the invisible walls and such is part of the ENGINE not the design...they are there because the engine cannot handle falling objects, etc, etc

...this post was about the island not lag or connection problems......
