Question- Do you still lose the energy as they get hit by lightning damage if the target is already knocked down?

Perhaps someone could enlighten me a bit here. If you cast Thunderclap on a foe, and one of your allies strikes that foe with lightning damage, you still lose energy right?

Also, just wondering if anyone knows the energy loss of this spell at higher levels of Air Magic.

Gah, that stinks most about this skill for general use. I call them, "Faux knockdowns".
Even with a wand, you have to time your attacks such that there's a short delay between each hit in order to prevent wasted energy.

At least Spinal Shivers only causes energy loss when the target is actually interrupted.

You lose energy when target foe is struck for lightning dmg. But, you do not lose energy if the foes are already knocked down. I use thunderclap a lot, and have never seen that. Part of it reads, target foe when struck is knocked down(adjacent too) and you lose X energy. If the foe is already down and then struck, I have never lost energy. That wouldnt make sense. Being knocked down is part of the Hex. You cant be knocked down if you are sitting on your butt. I farm alone with this skill, and have not noticed the loss of energy then or with a group.
As far as the loss goes... It goes down as your Air skill rises... but only to a certain point. I dont max air skill, and Im not looking at the skill now, but it wont go lower that 5-7 energy loss. Somewhere in there. Either way, its a chunk of energy lost each time target falls down. That can add up fast.

You still lose energy if the target is already knocked down and it is hit again. I was grouping with a W/Mo using a shocking axe, and he was draining my energy very fast.

I can summerise this spell in 3 words: THIS SPELL SUCKS!!! it seems good at first, but over time, it would play hell with a primary ele using it. Useful on warriors mabye, but not good when it comes to the enrgy drainage. Also, using the combo Thunderclap+a weapon that does electric dmg (expecially with a warrior wep) would drain energy quite fast, expecially with a warrior. In fact, a primary warrior could probably hit the enemy only 3 times or something like that and would run out of energy, ending the spell. In total, with the speed a warrior attacks, it is probably equivelant only to knocking the enemy over once, which seems pretty bad for an elite skill.

This is a very powerful spell, but it is not a be all end all spell. It's a tactical weapon. Take an Ele out with this at 16 Air and a shocking bow and you can prevent a target (and any closeby targets) from doing anything for about 20 seconds.

What Rajamic said, yeah. It's got major drawbacks, but it's also got major benefits if you can make it work. You can completely lock down multiple characters for an obscenely long time, if everything goes right.

most annoying Random Arenas build:

E/R: Horn Bow with shocking string. Cast hex on target, and watch. The shooting interval is long enough not to waste any energy, as each time it hits they have just stood back up

Shouldn't it be a shortbow? As far as I know, knockdowns are 2 seconds long, and shortbows fire every two seconds, so a hornbow would give them a fraction of a second in between knockdowns. Long enough to use Contemplation of Purity, and you don't want that.

You don't have to be E/R to use use, just have any bow with a shocking mod on it.
