Do Australian Guilds kinda suck?

Hiya... I've been looking around the site for an Australian Guild to join, yet it seems they are all quite small, and many aren't that interested in GvG either.

It's their preference, but I'm a little dissappointed that so many people want a guild for "their identity", and thus there's a lot of little "friend's guilds" floating around. I would have preferred if most of the Australian guilds merged to form a largish guild of 60+ australian members or so... and planning to compete in the top 1000 or something... (if such a guild exists, please pm me!). It seems like most of the guilds I've joined generally have like 3-4 people on at any one night, of a wide level range so we can't play together.... it'd be nice if they had enough members to have at least a couple of full groups on during australian evening times most days, so I'd have a good chance of doing something with guildmates most of the time. Ah well. Maybe I need to work harder to entice my friends away from WoW...

I agree.

I ended up forming a 'little friends guild' as you put it when i couldn't find a large dedicated aussie guild.

I'd be willing to join one (and bring my current members too) if you find one!

This may change over time. You have to realise that Guild Wars isn't as widely available over here in Australia as other countries (i.e. you either buy it from EB as an "exclusive" or you order it online) limiting the number of players. As you mentioned, WoW on the other hand has a much bigger following over here in Australia, and it'd be quite hard to vie them away from it. Especially if those gamers are MMORPG-purists (since GW isn't a "pure" MMORPG per se).

Personally, I like the idea of small guilds of friends - I've still yet to get any members (lol) but one day, I'd like to have a guild that is more of a community to have fun foremost with competition against other guilds coming secondary. However, my opinion might change, since I'm still playing through PvE.

A big elite PvP Australian guild would be nice and isn't unreasonable. However, if there was one, I wouldn't be interested. I prefer to lead guilds/clans rather than follow someone else.

Did you ever consider forming an Australian group within an existing American/European guild? I'd love to have 60+ Australians/New Zealanders in my guild Think of the possibilities ...

An Auzzie, a Canuk, and a Cowboy (Texan's rock, I have to say!) walk into a bar ...

I'm aiming for, one day, a massive group of people from every area of the earth. Some Australians would be MUCH welcomed. Contact me for details, as I have plenty to give!

May you see the light, and stay away from the darkness (!@#$ WoW!),

Yeah, currently I'm in a multi-country guild, however Australians are spread too thinly to have many people to party with during australian evening hours.

As for the poster who preferred to lead his own guild, well, that's fine, but everyone wants to be leader and no-one member, which is why we have so many little "me too!" guilds

Then again - if I could find 10 or so friends who played at -exactly the same times- as me, then I wouldn't need a big guild either

True, I've just found everytime I've joined a guild or clan in internet gaming, there'd always be some people in the group that acted like knobs. I'm not saying all guilds/clans are like that, but it's rare to find one where you can get along well with almost everyone in it .

Heheh, I don't need to get along with everyone, as long as they're all reasonably proficient at playing the game, and listen to each other, then that's good enough for me

And if they aren't, well, any decent guild would kick them anyway :P

I have to agree with the fact that it's not easily available over here yet. I'm in a tiny guild that more of my friends will be joining once they get the game (once our city stops being sold out!) but until then it's kinda hard to find anyone else.

If you're buying from EB, your friends could always tell them to reserve/order a copy for them and they'd be more than willing to do so . Alternatively, there are online stores that sell Guild Wars as well (http://www.gamewarehouse.com.au is one of them), although considering GW is selling at 20% off at EB atm (i.e. AUD$72), it's probably best they get it from there .

It is? Awesome, I'll have to pass the word on. I'm sick of waiting for them to get it ^^

I've found this whole 'eb exclusive' thing is a lie perpetuated by eb to stop people from looking elsewhere.

I got my copy from Games Wizards on release day, as did my friend on the other side of the state. They still have stock, too, because everyone thinks it's an EB exclusive.

lol. Yeah was wondering if what they were saying was true or not. Sounded a bit dodgy . We don't have Game Wizards here in WA (at least I've never heard of it) - so our only real option is EB or the main department stores (e.g. Harvey Norman, Myer Megamart, Target, K-Mart, etc.).

That's if we're not buying online .

Well, for what it's worth, My guild is an aussie guild. Currently we have 5 members, we're all intelligent, thoughtful gamers.

Send me a message in game if you're interested.

How about all the pplz that are from Australia that posted on here all join up and form one guild.

That could be a start of something.

But I agree that we don't really have any Australian guilds that are even large enough to compete in PVP and GVG.

Meh, I joined a Guild that makes me feel happy and welcome. I like the idea of a massive Australian Guild, that sounds pretty cool though. The Guild I am with now is everything I could ask for.

I'd like to see for once " 'Aussie Guild' has won the battle in the hall of heroes and keeps the favour of the gods for Australia", that'd be nice one day.

Considering how big of a country we are, it's a shame to not see our name spread around a little more in these online games. I would like a server for australia. THat would hae been nice. meh, oh well. I'll have to stick with the american servers, i guess if it wasn't for that, I would never have met the awesome bunch that I am with now for my guild...

"Big" in terms of land area, small in terms of population - we've only got 1/10 the population that the US has... although apparently we have the highest number of people to computers ratio in the world (i.e. a lot of people have access to a computer here)

Oh defnitely. I was in the Netherlands at one stage and basically EVERYWHERE has access to cable and DSL (AFAIK) - and it was pretty damn rare to see anyone on 56k (actually the lowest connection speed I ever saw was 64k). Whereas here in Perth for example, there are still some suburbs which haven't even had the infrastructure set up for ADSL .

Australian Guildwar Brotherhood

Me/Mo

Hey guys, I am an officer of a guild that has roughly 20 members currently and we are pretty into guild vs guild battles.
guild name: Australian Guildwar Brotherhood
we got a cape whch displays a beer mug on a triangle in green and gold
we have a guild hall, necessary for guild on guild action
we got friendly members, willing to help you through missions or just chat.
We are open to recruits from Australia or nearby landmasses such as New Zealand or singapore or malysia or wherever.
Guild mergers are good too, already done a few of those. in that situation, guild leaders from the joining guild are offered officer status.
so if any of you would like to give me a pm, even just for a chat you are most welcome.
Character name: Alluren Spellbinder

www.anzgw.com is a good place to check out potential Aussie and New Zealand guilds
P.S. we fought the Trans Tasman Alliance and won!

Hi, i'm up for a guild merge. I have a small 'friend's guild' only consisting of 3 members including myself. I'm the leader, R/E20 and looking to merge with a large Australian guild, who are intereseted in becoming one of hte largest Australian guilds to compete in PvP and GvG. If you're also interested in the same purpose, maybe all the leaders of the small 'friend guilds' can combine ourselfs into one larger guild. Feel free to PM me my name is Lady Hellion. Hope to hear from you all soon.

I would much prefer we (the leaders of the small clans) add each other to friends list and/or join an IRC chat where we could plan out the single large guild before we create it. That way we could organise cape colors and styles, guild halls, rankings etc.

BTW: all 3 members of my guild are Australian.

Looking for Aussies to join our clan and current aussie members

Clan SOLID is just that, A well organised clan with members from all over the world. We aim to grow so that there is always a clan member online and there will always be someone to play with. Currently we have members in America, Australia, UK, Singapore etc. We have been together for 4 months and started in the game of Dawn of War.

Our clan suits every playing style. We are not obsessed with PvsP and also enjoy PvsE while working as a team and sharing experiences. We also have an elite division for those that are more compeditive in our clan, for those who love PvsP and GvsG. All experience is catered for. On top of that we, we stay in close contact with each other through our website forums and IRC chat. We also have our own Team Speak server to ensure we stay strong as a clan. We have a roll call to ensure members stay active and to ensure we have spots for new members.

Its all about having fun. If you still havent decided, we will be more than happy to let you have a trial with us. We currently have 70+ members and its growing every day.

There is a recruitment form on our website or you can email me. [email protected]

The Australian Vengeance Alliance is currently recruiting to expand our guildwars membership. AvA is a championship withing aussie team that was formed in 1999 and has over 200 active members (at the time of writing this post) across several games.

More importantly, AvA is a group of mates moreso than just a guild. We have offline activities such as a the annual AvA Superlan (a 3 day lan in melbourne which members fly across the country for).

Should anyone be interested in joining AvA, they can PM me on the AvA forums.
