ANET should fix division in party drops
Da Cebuano
Seriously, I'm sick of getting bones, tokens... and absolutely nothing worth of value while 1 or 2 guys in a group are getting gold flamberges, shields and unid armors, I mean WTF?!
Thing is, it happens every single time I join a party, I get absolutely nothing! The whole deal PROMOTES SOLOING, if you want money to get your armor, you'll have to solo for good items to sell or use for yourself cause YOU WONT BE ABLE TO AFFORD ANYTHING. Seriously, getting like 12gold from a gold drop sucks serious ass, why can't they just give every person the exact amount of drop instead of having to divide it? They could lower the drop values from 1-200gold drops to 50-70gold drops and just have everyone get 50-70gold each.
Also, Again that loot division, Why does one person consistently get the items while everybody else is forgotten? Is there a formula or condition? Overall its very frustrating due to item drops recently have turned stagnant, I didn't get a single good drop in thunder keep and was praying that a mursaat hammer would dorp my way for my next char then it happened!! a gold drop but it was for a guy who later got another mursaat hammer!! 2 in one mission + other drops he got! man that was bummer, Seriously, I started avoiding groups after I got to kryta gates cause of this.
Overall I'm still enjoying the game very much, just this thing that irks me quite badly, I mean its like(the game) a 3rd world country reallly, in which the rich get richer and the poor have to pray for that one lucky drop to get them out of poverty.
Its also sickening how alot of the more useless members of a party(the one who gets constantly killed, runs and aggros mobs, doing mostly nothing to contribute) are getting more stuff as to the more active players.
Anyway, If all things are equalled, there would'nt be much farming/grinding for items. Now w/ the lower drop rates + poor loot division = more people are turning to solo and farming more. Anet just made the oppossite of what they were trying to do w/ that patch.

Because life isn't fair.
It's no different from say EQ where some people find better drops more often than others.
It's a little something called luck. Sorry if yours is crappy.

Oh yeah, ingame luck >_>
Again, doesn't that promote for people to outlet and try to make up for it by soloing? You get crappy drops in groups, therefore solo as much as you can, cause and effect. I'm not just gonna sit around and wait for my luck to get better, I'm gonna do something about it, yet the only thing I can do is exactly what the developers dont want and impose very strict limits yet they defer you to a broken aspect of the game. Quite simply its utter BS. If luck was so damn important in making it good in this game, they should've made it a stat.
For a "we support no farming, no grinding and promote coop play" type of game, it goes the complete opposite. Pretty soon this will indeed turn into diablo, Super vigors are already turning into zod.

Drops are random. Randomness is luck. What's the problem? Just because you roll the dice 12 times and never hit 6 doesn't mean the dice are loaded.

wait til next weeks update when they said they would BEGIN to address the item drop problem
[QUOTE]it is our intention to address the larger issue of the need for farming by assessing how players acquire and unlock items, runes, and skills, and then by taking steps to ensure that players can acquire and unlock these things through normal gameplay. Anger management. Not just a good idea.
Also a community college class in statistics might help you understand how silly your statements sound. If loot was not distributed randomly, people could base choices on it, like when to ditch their group after they get their promised share. Realize what you are asking for is not "more loot" but only "predictable loot". If you know that you're not going to get loot for the next 7 drops, you might just not fight so well... or you might time the boss kill so that it would be your drop as opposed to someone elses.
In short, sorry that you percieve that the game is slighting you. But it's only your perception.

I don't know what group of people you roll w/(although you seem to apply your "knowledge" of statistics rather poorly) but it sounds like people are treating your game like baal runs, get items then tee off, thats not right. Also, its just to divide the drops equally so that not one person gets everything while everybody is like o_0 Its silly to ask for fairness? wow, take your own advice bud. Also, when do people group if they dont have to anyway? I mean you expect people to join missions just to get items? I mean dont you advertise that you need group for missions and not farming? Maybe you should also get some classes from that community college on "how to not end up w/ the wrong people" class, you'll realize how silly your statements sound.
What I'm asking is out of 5 loots a group of 5 should get 1 each, not one guy get 3 and the others are up for grabs, thats not right. Anyway, if you can't understand such simple logic, then you're either blinded by the need to defend the game or..................
Anyway, still early, hopefully things will look up, been playing for 2-3 weeks now and I've done very well for myself. I couldn't capitalize on being a group even when being one of the useful members and even soloing, so I took initiative and did the whole sell/buy/trade route to fetch me some capital(got close to 200k). Honestly I'm not looking forward to spending a lifetime just to create a character good enough for PVP. I'm not just planning to go in there and get my feet wet, I want to reach the top of the rankings, its a competitive game right? whats the point if you aint gonna compete to be the best? unfortunately to get there, you'll need the best stuff, alot of people are PvPing w/ perfect weapons w/ super vigor and absorb. At highest comp. game aint as balanced as you think. PvE aint deep enough or immersive for me to try and keep doing it other than to unlock things quickly and focus on VS. Thats why I prefer 1 on 1 as an option, just so we can isolate skill(since the game focuses on touting that) and see just who is top dawg.
Also, learn the distinction between anger and frustration, I'm just giving feedback on some unfairness of the game, yeah sure life isn't fair, but this game isn't life nor does it consume mine. You shouldn't be hardcore to get the most out of it, heck that was the game's promise while it was being hyped.
I'm looking forward to that patch, anything is better right now, it sorta killed half the fun for me as well as alot of others.

Hmmm, I guess I'm that guy who's getting all the good drops. I generally get atleast 1 purple every trip. And golds happen often enough. Its all random(as are the assining of the drops). And it will remain random.

Simple solution join a good guild make some friends go run around and kill stuff then everyone divies up the spoils when the run is over. We do this a lot in my guild so we can all get access to the items/runes we need. Teamwork is a wonderfull thing.

i went to test drops at my usual place of farming were i havent been for at least a week and there jsut as good if not better i only ran it once and got 4 purples all weapons 2 of wich were max dmg one was an axe the other a staff 2 blue salvages (one minor vigor and onr minor hammer mastery) 1 gold armor salvage (turned out to be major blood magic eww) 1800 in gold and a bunch of items to salvage/sell all that in about 6 mins
while not the fastest run it makes up for it in quality i get pretty consistant drops when i go there.

I love teh current setup... I used to drake hunt in a group of 2-3 in kryta (before patch that made them uber beefy) and I would get a gold item and/or 2-3 purple while everyone else got just gold and the occasional purp... hehe...

A thing i noticed is, Damage Dealers or Healers get more loot then the more passive classes. Maybe it really IS luck... but a few friends of mine and i did some tests on this. We threw in the typical Warrior and Elementarist and a Ranger and Mesmer. The Ranger was dedicated on spirits on rituals so he basically wasn't fighting that much.
The Warrior and Elementalist that did all the damage got all the loot. Only when the Ranger or the Mesmer engaged in a way of direct damage did they have a chance on loot too.
Well it might be luck, but we tried this thing the whole damn way from Ascalon to Lion's Arch. With no missions inbetween.
/edit:
And i just don't believe those stories of farming wonderland. Seriously. I'd even go as far as to call those people liars who say they still farm with ease and bath in money because it is sooooo easy to get it. You people just lost the connection to reality and need to come down from your cloud.

w/e you wanna believe i can still farm just as easily in the areas ive always farmed

Every enemy drops 1 item, so I don't see how they could do it anyway else. What are you suggesting, that after someone gets loot, he gets banned from getting the next 7 pieces of loot (in a group of 8)? That would be ridiculous, people will be refusing to kill lower-drop enemies in order to save their loot drop for boss or high-dropping enemies. I'm sorry, but random loot assignment is the only way to go, unless you have a better suggestion.
Kazahana
round robin would be nice instead of random drops that way everyone gets an equal number of items give or take 1. maybe make it were the party leader chooses round robin style or random
edit:
maybe i should clarify round robin style since some people might not get it
in round robin style it drops according to the list so the person at the top of the list gets the first item then the second person gets an item and then the third and so on till it gets back to the first person.rinse, lather, repeat.
of course gold would be uneffected by this just acctual items

The game is random.
Every game is random.
Deal with it. Life is random. You could be out driving today on teh side of a mountain road and a huge boulder fall on you and kill you. Will you be whining to God (or Satan) about how it's not fair that you had a boulder fall on you but yet the rest of the world didn't?
I'll bet you would.

I hope you're not one of those guys I see more and more often who sees something nice drop for someone else, then spams the rest of the mission begging for it to be given to them. There's almost nothing more obnoxious.

I've seen two proposed explanations to this whole "random" drop thing that make sense to me:
1) It's like rolling a six sided die... there is no guarantee that all six sides will show up with equal consistency, and some sides may turn up more than others. In this situation, my experiences above are just coincidence.
2) As with exp points, there is some relationship to damage done, taken or supported regarding the random loot generator. This could easily be tested... next quest or mission, have someone just stay behind at the entry point and do nothing the whole time, then see if they get any drops along the way.

Its true, I once was hunting some jawbones for a collector and find out a good spot ... because one E vs 2/3 Jade Scarabs does not end up very well I picked up henchies but for mistake I just picked up the two warriors and the healer and headed out.
My drops dramatic improved, before I was lucky if I managed to get one jaw drop from the worms after I wiped a 5-6 of then and then I started to get about 1 jawbone for 2-3 killed.

My main char a ranger primary got quite a few gold drops in main missions and so did other members, it seemed pretty balanced to me so the randomness isn't that bad (atleast i think its random). There were few times when 2 or 3 people got golds and I got nothing but I wasn't really pissed off because I just remind myself of how I got a few golds sometimes and others got zilch. Maybe my ranger was just lucky, never farmed with it but got shit-loads of golds and purples with it from missions and quests and exploring.
Another lucky character of mine is my nooby w/mo who got like 3 purples in a row, then nothing next kill and another 2 more purples in a row, then nothing next kill and 1 more purple. Now that was just plain lucky.
Also if there is an item that dropped for someone else and you want it so badly then why not ask for it and buy it off him. It will be difficult to manage the item drops in a team because getting a balance is hard and randomness is as close as it gets.

Here is a great post I read on guild-hall
Also, I'm a warrior, so I'm front line and do the majority of the damage especially since My skills are primarily geared towards doing alot of damage in a short time, It used to be fine actually, I'm sorry if I came off as pissed in the first post, I was actually just frustrated how one patch about the drops turned it upside down. So no, all the theories dont apply since its more like random luck for different people. Unfortunately the way the game is set up, you either get incredible luck or none at all.
