I remember seeing one of the guides here about how your swordsmanship attribute effects your damage. Well I didn't really understand all that, so i'm gonna ask a few questions here.

1. Just how does stregnth effect your damage? Does it really only take away 10 or 12% of armor? If so, I couldn't inmagine it doing anything.

2. I THINK that if you have the correct req for a sword that is 12, that you do the 15-22 damage (or whatever esle it does) on each hit. However, what if I have a max damage sword with a req of 8. Will I do the same 15-22 damage if my swordsmanship is 12? Or will it be boosted since I am above the req. There for will a sword that has max damge but has a req of 8 be better than a max damage with a sword req of 12?

1) I am not sure about this one

2) When you have a higher swordsmanship than required for the sword, it increases your chances of doing critical hits (but I think its a very small increase) but not the damage of the sword.

A critical hit is 2x the max damage you can do. From testing, that damage is 2x (max weapon damage + lvl of swordsmanship). So, with Swordsmanship 12, and a 15-22 sword, your max damage would be 34, = 68 Critical.

How minimum damage is effected, I'm not 100% sure, but effectively each level of swordsmanship = +1 damage.

I don't know about strength, but it's worth noting that 10% armour penetration can be significantly more than 10% extra damage when facing highly armoured opponents.

This contradicts Ensign's testing, so I suspect it is wrong. From the combat mechanics page on GWG main site:

The frequency with which you will land a critical hit is dependent upon several factors - your character level, the level of the victim, and, if you're using a sword, axe, or hammer, the appropriate attribute level. The exact formula for landing a critical chance is unknown, and due to it being a matter of statistical analysis it is rather difficult to test. In rough terms, your chance of landing a critical hit against a foe of comparable level with a level 12 weapon mastery is roughly 20% - if you're a level 20 character beating up on level 1 targets with a level 12 weapon mastery, your critical chance is very close to 100%.

Ensign's testing I don't understand thoguh. So does having a higher swordsmanship then req make the lower req swords better than higher, even if same damage? I'm confused.
