Does the quality of the runes available for salvaging increase as game progresses? Does the frequency of runes drooping increase as game goes on?

E.G. would i be more likely to get a superior rune in say ring of fire than around the temple of ages?

Nope. Just depends on luck and when your next drop is going to be blue/purple/gold. Only thing that helps determine your chances of getting a nice salvage item is the creature's drop rate of purples/golds.

Although others have disagreed, I have to say absolutely yes. You will not get superior runes at low levels, well maybe you will, but your chances are next to none. At later levels, you have significantly increased chances. Im talking about quality of runes, not frequency here. I have found that when I get rare armor with over 40 armor it has a much greater chance of being a superior rune. I would say about 2/3 are superior, 1/3 are major, I have never gotten a minor with gold armor with 40 or more armor. Same is true with purple armor, but its more 40/40/20 (superior/major/minor).

So anyhow, the 'level' of the loot you get affects your chance at a higher quality rune.

Its pretty much pure luck. In my first week of playing I got a major vigor rune. Since then I haven't seen anything near as good. I always seem to get ranger, mesmer and necromancer runes though and I have no use for them and no one will ever buy them so I end up selling for 25 (rune trader won't buy for more)

I just thought the higher the critter you were fighting the more likely you are to get a major or sup rune. As far as I know, that is how it works for weapons as well. You won't find a max damage weapon on a level 10 critter. I don't know, it makes sense to me.
