Role Playing

I saw the role playing district petition in the game suggestion forum. I have played many rpgs, but this is my first mmorpg (or whatever youw ant to call it). I don't understand what these RP districts would change. Can somebody answer this for me?

I don't either, which is why I've never bothered to read the thread. As far as I know, PvE=Role Playing District... and petitions are presumptuous.

Good of you to comment on something you admit you know nothing about... such humility is rare on these forums, unlike the number of posts based on a similar level of awareness...

It is a huge sticky, with a lot of names and support..and I really hope they are added.

An RP district is an area where people can be in character to roleplay, without fear of "RoFL, N0ob rpers!11!" comments from the 'wonderful people'.

So basicly it is a district with nice people? I must be misunderstanding, becuase that will be impossible to inforce.

No, it is a district where you can roleplay your characters..kind of like acting.

You invent a backstory for your character, and then act out situations from their point of view.

role playing pvp character > custom built pvp character

just imagine that your role playing character whooped the custom built pvp character and you decide to visit sanctum cay and somebody in there pmed you saying that he was the monk who you pwned in the arena/tombs/whatever. leet?

A RP district is for people who intend to stay in character (that is, playing a role rather than a game) in the local chat.

MMORPG's often have role playing servers. While people don't always stay in character there, they do tend to be more nice on average.

I suppose it makes sense, and I guess I'll sign the petition. I generally don't like petitions because the connotation is that we're threatening the devs, which is why I called it presumptuous. However if "petitioning" for a RP district is just a way to say asking for it while ruling out the inevitable off-topic conversations that go into any thread... then I'm all for it.

I never bothered to read it because for me, the game is the world, the character is the life led. The game felt like it should be a RP game except in PvP and so I expected that RP district would in all ways be indestinguishable from the normal districts.

We're still going to get off topic conversation, we'll still get trade-spammers who don't know there's a trade channel. We'll still get people sending out random invites for guilds and even the occasional ass who threatens or spams juvenile catch phrases or threats... and we'll always have the beloved penises on the mini-map.

perhaps I'm a pessimist... but I will sign the petition in the hopes of a brighter world I'm total PvE and total RP, but as I said... perhaps a bit of a pessimist.

So baiclly role playing is where you act like you are really there, and not just playing the game? And this petition wants distrtics where people can do that?

I love the idea that people want to "role play" the fact that they can SCREAM loud enough that everyone in the city can hear them...

Besides that noone will ever ever ever ever keep to the rules. Ignore them? You can do that now!

I say find a group that WANTS to Rp.. thne do it outside the city or in team chat
