I'm looking for a place to host a website. Right now, we have space at gwunderground.com, but their main site seems to always go down because of bandwidth issues.
I'm looking for a free webhost, preferably one meant for guild/clan websites, and that has none of that pop-up/banner advertising going on.
What I'm also looking for:
- full contol over HTML (not templates)
- FTP access
- decent amount of webspace (mostly, our large files will probably include screenshots and possibly forums, since right now we're just using proboards)
- decent bandwidth (as in, website accessible for more than 1-2 days)
Any suggestions?

so if a place were to host all this for free how would they pay for their servers and bandwidth?
there are many places that sell webspace for as little as $3 (and some places even less) a month.. though webspace is limited limited emails etc to make up for low cost.

Actually, some people are quite generous and give out space. I had hosting at gwunderground and it worked decently until after the game was released, then their main site started getting hits. I had come across another place but can no longer find it.

cjb.com (or .net? i forget, haven't used in a long time) is a pretty good host. They're free, have no annoying ads(just a small line of text at top), and give 100 mb of space. However, they will delete the site if your page isn't visited for 90 days lol.

I recommend www.astahosting.com, they have a free program. You actively post on their forums to earn "hosting credits". Which lead to free hosting. You can host your site, forums, etc
