A warrior question

I am playing my first warrior and am still undecided about which weapon to specialize in.

I have been using my refund points daily. I try hammer, then switch to axe, then to sword.

It seems that the sword has the best overall skills attached to it and alos more predictable damage than an axe.

My question is what do you other warriors prefer and why? Am I missing something that makes axe and hammer better than sword?

thanks for your input

Sword is generally a good decision. Hammer is good too cause knockdowns interupt and can help your team in PvP.

Hammer is an excellent 1 on 1 weapon, as it can shut down skills well adn keep them from attacking. Sword and axe are very similar; axe has slightly higher damage through criticals and has an area attack much earlier than sword does, making it attrative in PvE. I couldn't say any 1 is best, which is the point, they are all good at something.

Mo/Me

I started my warrior with sword, but I am thinking of switching, particularly if/when I make the switch on this character to PvP.

True that there are some good sword skills, including savage slash, hamstring, final thrust, etc. But my suspicion is that the axe family provides better overall damage over the course of a fight, despite the base weapon damage average, with the same opportunities for bleeding/deep wound, as well as having access to cleave and disrupting chop.

The interupt/knockdown ability of a hammer warrior also seems invaluable, something I as a sword wielder sorely lack (other than the savage slash spell interupt).

Ultimately though, for PvE, any of the 3 trees work well when you use the right skills at the right time. It's largely a matter of preference and play style, IMO. PvP is a slightly different matter however.
