Sound cuts out?

I am happy to say that GW plays wonderfully I haven't had one hitch with it yet, except for one... (and its not really a big deal, just annoying)

When I launch GW all the sounds and stuff is there and running (music and sound effects), and it will run for about 5-10 minutes. But, almost always, when i start running missions/quests, during battle, my sound will just cut out... completely. The only commonality I can find, and even then its not perfect is that the sound usually cuts out in large battles (i.e. more than 2 mobs).

The only way I can get it back is to logoff and restart the game. My sound card is a typical soundblaster 5.1 that is embedded in my ASUS motherboard, and it works great for all my other games/uses...

Any ideas? is this something common? I can't find any other posts like this in the forum.

Machine Specs and what mobo you have will help.

Also, anything you have already tried yourself to resolve this issue. Have you checked through the threads here to see if this problem already exists?

ASUS P series m/b with integrated SoundBlaster 5.1 sound (I cant remember the exact model number)
P4 3.4 ghx HT processor
1 GB DDR400 memory
250GB SATA HD
ATI Radeon 9800 w/256MB video

Also, I have tried changing the audio settings in game to see if it would re-start the sound, but that didn't work. Beyond that I have tried nothing.

I did search the 1st 5 pages of this forum to see if there was an existing thread, and I could not find one. (last line in my original post)

Are all your drivers up to date for Mobo, Graphics, XP(I presume you are running XP) and anything else you may have installed?

Also, if you can find out your Mobo Model Number, that would help a great deal too, in case someone else has the same model. Should be in your manual. If you can't find it, just run DXDIAG, and it will give you the model number there.
Also helps people when they can check out the details of your machine in case they have an idea.

FYI - I disabled environmental effects using the system tray icon for my sound card and the sound stopped cutting out. might help you.
