It's not BT. I have no problems with them at all. I am running constantly. The only time i ever have a hiccup, is if there is a power failure and i haved to reset my Router or if they are doing some maintenance on the network. Other than that, my Router is running 24/7 and every morning when i come to logon, I can with no problems and I get no issues with GW either.
As it's a new connection, I can only assume it's either something to do with your Modem, Line or maybe even something to do with your PC not being configured right. There are always a few issues with connecting something new that you are not used to, and to blame it all on BT isn't exactly fair, even if you had no problems with your 56k.
Have you made sure all your Mobo Drivers are upto date?
What mobo do you have and are you using Onboard Lan or a Lan PCI card?
All these things can have a contributing factor on whether you can communicate with the Modem/Router properly or not.
You need to do a little more work and research. Did you have a look through the DSL website I gave you, as they are a huge resource for all things ADSL and there are some very knowledgeable people there regarding ADSL/Cable and Broadband in general.
Update. Remember, If BT find nothing wrong with there modem or connection, they won't touch your PC. That is left for you to do.
