I'm soley PvE.. I've tried some PvP..seemed pointless to me, i.e. nothing to be gained from actually playing it.

you can get xp from winning arena fights.. not sure about pure pvp chars as i haven't played one. apart from the xp, you really get nothing as a reward, unless you want to practice for a GvG battle or for winning the HoH and get a sigil.

It's fun to be competitive.

Same here
my friends and i bought this as a team PVE game
none of us are really interested in PVP

A net do seem to be catering for both crowds though
long may it continue

Well, I play PvE to unlock the skills for PvP. PvP is fun and challenging, there's no glory or stats to be have, but it's still fun. I love PvE too, the storyline is great. I feel like I'm playing a console RPG game with interactive people.

For PvP; It's like playing Counter-Strike, but with out guns.

I'd say Team Fortress is a better analogy than CS when comparing to Guild Wars PvP
