from guildwar.com update
We know that some players currently engage in repetitive farming activities for the primary purpose of unlocking skills and items for PvP. Rather than preserving the effectiveness of farming for this purpose, it is our intention to address the larger issue of the need for farming by assessing how players acquire and unlock items, runes, and skills, and then by taking steps to ensure that players can acquire and unlock these things through normal gameplay. We believe that the most effective way to play the game should also be the most fun way to play the game. You can expect to see the first meaningful changes towards this goal next week.
So! I've read and search about this in various forum after the june 8 patch (yes. not just this one)..
some said this .. some said that..
but does anyone know what exactly happened?
it's it a dynamic "adjustment" (or nerfing!) when someone keep going to the same place and kill the same mobs in a certain timeframe??
or is it just automatic noticing the AN team and they nerf the whole spot to everyone completely/forever if someone farm there..
or is something else that i totally missed...

I mean.. i personally don't farm .. but i need money too (i dont' really care about rune too much.. since i only PVE.. and most superior rune got that -75 health thing anyway.. i mostly go for minor... i do hope to get a super vigor tho.. ) so.. i do go on some solo "run around" when i wait for my guildlies ... or when i got 20 minutes when i wait for my GF to get ready on before we go out...i dont' see that's harmful (i do question whether that's even called farming in my case!).. just get loot and sell.. to make money.. that's all..

I do get the excitment whenever i unlock something.. and more even i want better weapons and armors and upgrades... that that leads to rare purple/gold, loot drop, money making.. ...

personally i don't think adding any anti-farming "routine" is right.. since i mean.. if someone willing to put 500 hrs into a charactor to get stuff... good for him/her... and someone like me who just play missions and quests with my guild, to know the story.. and get some extra gold/plat/upgrade on the side when i am bored.. (plus i often go back to ascalcon and give some not so uber stuff to newbies for free... ) i see this is fun, very fun actually... and i dont' think removing that will make me feel more fun ...

anyway.. what do u all think.. and yes.. i still wanna know EXACTLY what happened...

there was no antifarming in D2, and looked what happened to that game

turned into

'come join my farming run of [___]'
and then people selling the items on ebay

and now throw in a PVP element where the people that farm the most can gain a slight advantage over their opponents...

its good to a point to 'fix' some of the farmed spots...

ArenaNet is assessing the need for farming...as they've said eventually we will be able to get the drops we need without having to farm.

i don't know... i guess i really don't mind that....
yes.. i remember d2 days that ppl go farm party... and i did it every now and than.. .. maybe 3-5% of my total game time
for those who do farming excessively... they are wasting their money to buy the game... it's a game.. not a job.. no need to do this over and over...
however.. there are times that u want to get uber weapon or a superior rune of vigor (so far i haven't got any superior rune.. one major only)... and u will keep going to quote-unquote-farm whenever u got nothing better to do... that's enjoyment and reaching personal goal (goal of finding certain item)... while making extra gp in the game.. nothing wrong as i can see...
i mean if farming is all u do in the game.. u obviously missing something with the 49.99 u paid in the gameshop...
and for those who sell in ebay.. i don't know.. i remember i laugh when my friend forward those ebay post to me... i mean.. it's a game .. why would u pay REAL LIFE money to buy item in the game anyway...
someone selling item IN THE GAME..however.. is meaningful.. it's like a seperate community/society in the game... there are those risk their life to get the uber good to sell.. there are those who work hard in the game to earn extra gp.. there are those who just travel around and find out their destiny in the game... there are good guys .. there are bad guys... rich guy and poor guy...
i think that's normal and balance.. jsut don't bring those to your real life... worry about your morgage, your financing of your car in real life.... and whatever uber good u got in the game became a convo piece during dinners (not after dinner... after dinner is for gw )
i know this sounds like utopia.. but if ppl don't care about those who abuse the system.. eventually they will die out... they can post whatever on ebay, but if someone doesn't bid on it... he/she will end up paying the listing fee anyway..

and somehow.. i don't think AN will be able to make thing drop even we don't need to farm.. that will either kill the game economy because those who farm will get LOTS, or things goes completely out of balance....

anyhow... again..just my thought... if i accidently targeted to anyone... i didn't mean to...

and still waiting for what is truly happening after that patch

No matter what they do, people will still farm. Farming will only stop when monsters stop dropping items. And then, there will be no items for anybody.

I'm thinking it would be great to recieve drops related to our class. Honestly, I don't see what the problem is... We already have armor and skill distribution in town related to our class, why not equipment drops?

I have 5 rares since the start of the game. All are pretty much useless to me or for that matter ... to anyone. If there was a random quest generator available to provide some kind of mini-quests which give out important info somewhere down the line. I think it would change the ideas of farming.

Totally agree.. i got a whole backpack of decent hammer, truentlon, sword, etc.. on my E/R... and i don't see the point of having that.. except i kept the very good one in the storage for my other char...
spent lot of time posting WTS to get those stuff away..
