How high can you get a non-profession attribute?
Granamyr
Theoretically, could you get a primary attribute not of your primary class above 0 using runes and items? Say I was a monk/ranger, is there any way to increase my expertise skill or even increase tactics so as to meet a shield requirement?
BlackArrow
Runes are only tied to your primary class so a Ranger/Necro can only use Ranger runes. As far as I know there is no way to boost the priamry attribute of your secondary class.
Aladdar
That's correct, runes are only available for your primary profession.
There is no way to up your secondary profession primary attribute.

I concur, the only thing that decides what your primary class is (besides how cool you look) is your primary attribute. This is not shared with any other class and therefore cannot be altered (otherwise there really is no point in a primary class... there'd be just two classes). I could be wrong though, I haven't actually looked it up... I know, I know, but I'm getting ready to leave work and decided I'd give an estimated guess a shot.

P.S. Forgive me if I'm wrong
P.P.S EDIT: Wow, THX beat me to it. Yay, I'm right.

there are 2 skills that i know of that will give you a temporary boost in certain attribute lines. i also had some items that gave you a % chance at a +1 to an attribute when doing something or another, although i am unsure whether those modifiers are still ingame.

that is true. he did ask about tactics though, and that is not a primary profession attribute -- i know of no way to actually raise this attribute if you do not have the warrior profession.
