Physical Resistance: is it working for anyone else?

So I'm getting the beating of my life from a group of ettins and decide to turn on physical resistance. Now with a +40 vs physical damage, you would think you would see some damage reduction but no, the ettins were still hitting for the exact same values than when I hadn't turned it on.

Anyone else have this problem?

I didn't have much luck the multiple times in PvP when two warriors decided to tear me apart. But to be honest, I had more on my mind than watching the health numbers flash by.
Oh, this is with 70 R armor +40 phys resist you figure would let you tank somewhat decently. I died pretty darn quick.

didnt seem to do anything much to me, tho in pvp i did experience slight damage reduction - this could have been chance however.

40 extra armor should mean that damage is about halved. I didn't notice any change either.

same here it lowered my dmg by like 2...

Try it in underworld where the damage numbers are larger. See if you get a reduction there. (Not sure if mobs have armor piercing dmg or armor calculations are performed differently with UW/Fissure mob's attacks.)

Two possibilities spring to mind....do the ettins use wild blow to end stances? (I forget)

And also....are ettins doing physical damage? I'd assume so, but they may not be.

Whatever they use, you should see a noticeable change in the damage, one way or another, while Physical Resistance is up. If they have elemental attacks, the damage should be increasing, and if they use physical, it should be halved.

I can't say I've ever seen it work either.

for me, it has worked very well, i've seen the damage been halved vs physical type, and inscreased vs elemental ones.

if you're speaking about the last ettins in islands of fire, they do elemental damages, that's why the skill doesn't really protect you against them...
