Why do pvpers want everything on a plate
Spike
Why do pvp players want everything handed to them on a plate and not have to do anything to "earn" them? Even them i'm sure they would find something to complain about.
Sekkira
Not every PvPer does, I'm quite sure plenty of them still want the feeling of earning it, but they don't want to go through PvE as in their opinion it could be boring as hell. The people who do want everything handed to them on a plate though are just like that, they were brought up with the mentality that there will always be someone there to take you through the hard part if they couldn't do it initially. Ignore those people, they're not worth it.

Secondly, it isn't about "handing" on a platter. The game is meant to be about skill, at least that's what the ads say, yet it's about gear. For PvP to be meaningful there can be NO discrepancies in available materials/skills/attributes. That's the way competitions work, everyone starts on the same starting line, everyone starts with an equal setup. PvE isn't part of PvP and shouldn't be - I am not interested in the slightest in a competition to see who can collect stuff, only in playing vs another person.

I'm talking about the people that DO want everything handed to them. I'm not specifying or generalising, they are not PvEers, PvPers or a combination of both, they're just the whiners.
I agree though, you shouldn't have to do what you have to to unlock everything. UAU isn't the answer either. It should be challanging but not based on time consuming. If ArenaNet can work that one out, then we'd all be happy. Aside from the previous people who do just want everything handed to them. They're the scum of any game community.

remember there is this weeks update which is supposed to START making things more available in the game instead of farming.
remember this update is a start on that road and not the finished product.

I sure would appreciate it if there was something to look forward to though, instead of being kept in the dark. I mean, if it's good I wont complain either way, but if they gave us an idea what they're working on implementing, they could get feedback on how it would be nice to be done from the players so they have a range of ideas they can choose from like a player base brainstorm session.
Of course it'd ultimately be ArenaNet's decision on what's final, but the people who say ANet don't care because they've got our money anyway are very wrong indeed. Even if all they cared about was making money, they now have to keep themselves proven to the fan base enough for them to buy the expansion. Keep the system as it is now, and they'll lose a lot of buyers, change it to UAU and you'll also lose a lot of buyers. What a horrid situation.

And right here we have some text saying "Be nice."?
OHH! =) No flames please guys if this topic keeps rollin'. Thankies.
*EnDEdit*
Just figured I'd mention it since this COULD lead to some very very... Bad and good views.

It's not wrong to want "everything handed to them".
It's not whining. I am fine with working at acquiring stuff for PvE - in fact, it is too easy to pass good gear back and such. That's the RP side of it, and I think that's too easy. I don't want anything handed to me in PvE, and I don't like playing with folks too high for the zone I am in - if it is a level 12 mission it should be ~lvl 12 characters, not 2 * lvl 20s steamrolling it for their buddies.
OTOH, for PvP, it is a separate realm. I want everything unlocked for PvP, and for a good reason - so it is fair. I am one of the lucky ones; my FIRST rare drop was a beastmaster harness (IIRC, or a Dolyak cladding, it was in the northern shiverpeaks on a mission), unlocked a Superior Vigor. I didn't have to grind for one of the most useful runes out there. If I win a fight and have 10 health left when I beat my opponent, it would cheapen my win if he doesn't have one. I want my victories to be based on skill, and only skill. And I lose, too. I want my losses based on skill, not gear. I only have a few superiors unlocked (maybe 6 or so?), and not even all the majors yet. Having all skills, runes, items, armours etc available for PvP only doesn't cheapen the PvE experience at all.
For those who want to PvP within the PvE environment we need PvE only arenas - this satisfies all walks of life -
The pure PvPer gets his UAS and competes only with others on an equal footing. This ensures that wins really are wins and losses are losses, no complaints can be made about gear imbalances, and it is up to how you build, stregise and play - what PvP should be about.
The PvE player is unaffected, and can have more grind (and better PvE items if ANet choose to go that route), allowing for more item hunting/gathering without affecting the PvP only balance. They can compete with their PvE character in PvE arenas.
The PvE/PvP player can play PvE against other RP characters without worrying about the PvP skills, and can always choose to play in the PvP only arenas with a PvP character - since there is UAS etc... you can create a carbon copy of your PvE character to use in the PvP only (provided there are no items that are found in PvE only - so far there are not, but PvE only items could be fun, in the same way that there were "ladder-only" items in a certain other game)

Sorry guys, but this is just flamebait. There are already topics about this that have been well discussed and organized. No need to start a new one that comes off as insulting to the PvP crowd in general.
