Which armor is better?

Which armor provides greater protection?

Armor #1
AL 50
Reduces damage from attack
Armor +10

Armor #2
AL 50
Armor +20

Armor #2 sounds like it gives more protection but I don't know what "Reduces damage from attack" actually does. I wish the game had a feature that let you see the effect on attack and defense when you equiped weapons and armor. The feature could be optional for those whose don't wish to use it.

Thanks...

with armor 1 you should take less damage from a piercing attack than with armor 2.

Thanks for the reply.
So, how did you know that? I'm clueless to understand how it relates to piercing damage. So much about this game is clearly presented but this one baffles me.
Any insight is greatly welcome.

I heard that the "Reduces damage from attack" from each armor pieces DO NOT stack, so I would just mix and match it.

Is the "Reduces damage from attack" on crafted armor the exact same thing as a rune i put into?
And if yes, as wich rune? minor, major, superior?

Any ideas?

reduce damage is -2 damage, it stacks with whatever rune you put into the armor. So if you have a major absorption + reduce damage, you'll have a total of -4 damage from attacks.

Wait a minute, how exactly does it stack?

Can you stack a minor and a major? Or does the major just 'take over'? I'm pretty sure you can't stack minors (even though the whole set has reduce damage, only one of them counts).

sorry i was not 100% clear on my post Armor does not have resistance to elemental attack like Air. So if you are attacked by a elementalist your reduced damage will protect you from Air magice where the AC +40 will not becasue armor does not protect from elemental attack.. hope that makes more sense for you

That does make sense. "Reduces damage from attack" means all kinds of damage rather than just physical. Also, searching I founds some threads that stated it reduced damage by 2 after all calculations were completed. Another thread stated that only one piece of armor with this modifier protected all body areas (head, chest, arms, legs, and feet).

However, I found a lot of contratory information when I did a search. I wish the designers would clarify. I personaally enjoy playing the game more than struggling to figure out how it works.

I really do enjoy this game, though. Even if I'm not wearing the optimal armor or using the optimal weapon.

To paraphrase a great warrior: "Let's go kill some Charr."

i actually asked support about the armor and how was it supposed to work, my response from them was that they didnt answer questions about specific gameplay issues and that i should go to one of the many gamesites with forums and ask.

All melee atack and projectile ( bow, and spells that send a projectile ) are going to hit randomly ( the random depend of where you are, if your higher or lower than the target... ) a piece of armor. So if you have 1 legs that does have reduce damage from atack and the chest that doens't, if the arrow hit you on the leg it will do less damage than if it's hit the chest. The mods of the part only aply when this part is hit. For the spell that doens't have a projectile it's auto hit the chest.
