Hello im a W/E and im sick and tired of stupid teamates that just run up to high level animals and think that their actually going to have a chance. Its a whole lot more fun if u have a strategy and u take the animals down as a group. Also I am really tired of people leaving right when someone else dies just because they think we wont have a chance if one out of six has a death penalty. And sometimes they just leave right when we start. So if your a player who does not do any of the things i just listed list your name and level and say if you want to play with people who will cooperate. This is the thread that will seperate the good from the bad the patient to the impatient please post your name or thoughts.

You need to be a bit more careful with selection it seems.

But, in any case, if you ever see me online, feel free to team up with me. I DO know how to pull, how to avoid aggro, how to heal, how to protect my squishies, and how to nuke. (not necessarily all with the same character )

My chars :

Shauna Wolfsclaw - E/Mo 20, currently hanging out around Droknar's.

Eldridge Shadowhand - N/R 17, No idea where he is, he's kinda retired until I can think of a way to rebuild him. he's less than useless against the undead hordes in Kryta...

Arlen Daodanar - W/Mo 9, Currently in Old Ascalon (I think near Piken somewhere).

I've had a few others but they've been deleted. I mostly play Arlen or Shauna.

Hint : Avoid people with names such a "I pwn U" , "Ikill Dan00bies" "N00bz0rpwner Xtrme" and other such swill. The name conveys whole volumes of the level of intelligence and maturity in a player...

Personaly i get a bit 'bossy' I tell my team to stick close (when i'm leading this is) and i avoid every attack i can, i only attack when i need to to get the mission done. When I am going to attack i will tell the team and instruct them how to play it, depending on the elemental of the oposition what skills to use e.t.c.

^^ that is when it's going to be a hard battle, not a little mob.

Edit: Cres, those people are usually the ones that are ok! It's the people who think they are some hardcore w/# that are the problem.

A bad ranger or anything else that involves range doesn't usually run off and do stupid rush attacks, not letting healer recover and the rest of the team e.t.c... it's those warriors.

They think they can, pull, tank, and own a group on there own. They are usualy put under this impression early in the game because they havn't realise the people casting, and poisoning e.t.c. are actually causing most of the weakness/dmg for them to... finish off.

These people have normal names, but still are the same people that run out on a mission, don't let longbows pull and run into about 4 groups, die, then go, "ahh ***" and quit..... as if they are too good for you or something.

In game my name is Vallery Michaels (E/Mo). I'd like to say that I agree with you 100%. Too many times it's just a few whole spoil the mission/quest for everyone. Usually at least half of my groups will be people who are fairly intelligent and seem to know what they're doing. There is always one, though, who doesn't listen nor care about anyone else but him or herself.

I'm an elemental, more specifically a fire (nuke) elemental. I do mega damage to crowds and have a few defensive spells, that's all. I stay at the back of the pack, which is my place, and ALL caster's place.

I too have seen other stupid Elementals or Monks who seem to love trying to take point over the warriors and aggro things. This destroys any chance you have because the aggroing monsters will run right passed the warriors and into the back where the casters are. This creates a huge hysteria because now the casters are the tanks, the enemies are split up into groups, and all the casters are trying to escape the shit loads of damage they're taking. It's a frenzy of madness and doesn't work for TWO major reasons. Warriors are BUILT for tanking. I don't understand why people make E/Mo/Me/N classes and think they're going to handle a beating from 3-4 higher level mobs. Secondly, once the monsters are split, my efficiency drops to ZERO. I'm a nuker, my spells do damage to many creatures at once, there's no sense in me wasting a firestorm and meteor shower on one monster. It's absurd.

I'd also like to say that I've been in groups who were the epitome of teamwork. Last night, after almost ripping my hair out trying to find a tardless thunderhead keep group, I decided to go cap a skill in the thirsty river mission. In doing this mission before, I found it fairly difficult. This time I went with a team who had been farther into the game and were only looking to cap also. The mission was beyond easy, a breeze. We only had one warrior for a tank, 3 elementals, a monk, and alesia and still we tore through the mission without even the slightest slow down. Everyone worked as a team and knew their place on the battlefield. It's moments like those that make me love this game so much. Those moments where everything is working to perfection this game goes along as smooth as ice.

I totally agree. I am a lvl 19 Mo/Me. I was in 4 different groups last night trying to complete the Elona Reach mission. I can't even count the number of times that I pinged my energy bar when it was low, just to have people running to the next mob. One person even had the nerve to say it was my fault he died and that I sucked.

I'm also tired of the people that will join the group and then go afk as soon as it starts hoping to get a mission complete for just standing there. This happened in one of my Elona groups. Another person left when he died. The remaining 4 of us almost completed the mission.

It would be cool to have a system in game where you can rate the players in your party. Then, their rating should be visible to everyone in town. That way you would have a better idea of who to group with. (I know that this won't happen and probably wouldn't work, so it doesn't require comment).

Well, obviously I'm generalizing. I've teamed up with a guy named Lord Badazz, and he was one of the finest tanks I've worked with, he even went out of his way to try to protect me (since I was the only dedicated healer on our loooooonnnngggg journey to Villainy of Galrath).
So obviously, you can have guys with, ahem, unusual names that know what they're doing.

Yes, warriors do seem to draw the majority of the idiots out there, I guess they think the warriors are the invulnerable ones (as they are in most MMORPGS) and this suits their personality.

it's a shame, because now all W/Mos have a bad name, and I have a hard time grouping with people with my own W/Mo.

We should form a league or something. get a sticky on the forum with the list of Professional Cooperative Players, and if you misbehave, you're off the list.
Anyone know a moderator, maybe we can arrange this. It'd be nice to have a list of people we all know are good to join up with. Since we're all already spread around over a million guilds, a list is probably all we have to work with.

Hmmm, I'm beginning to like that idea more and more

i wish my neverwinter nights buddies played guild wars. i miss them for the exact reason this thread talks about.

it is very hard to randomly find a group to game with that will stick together. i'm constantly found in groups where there is always at least one person very far ahead of the rest of us.

my character is Orin Nailo. w/r 13. i'm always looking to cooperate with a group.

Yeh, well those groups you are on about Creston could be guilds... but yeh i know what you mean. I'm a ranger, and i know my place... i can't take dmg, and my job is to stay out of the way, set traps, and inflict poison/bleeding on my foes. I've been told i was one of the best 'stealth' players have played with, but then we saw this guy who actually ran one of the ascension missions for us (the one in the north with the 3 crystals, i forget the name) and that was shocking. Lol, looking at his health bar the whole way through and he took 10% dmg max.... imagine a team of 8 of him

Okay, last night I was with a group that was heading out to one of the ascention towns. There were five of us plus a healer henchie. Just as we leave town, the PC healer wants to go back into town so his/her guildie can join... ok we boot the henchie and take the guildie. Partway through the mission the PC healer says "the quest I want to do is the other way" and then the SOB and his guildmate TP back to town. Anyways, my opinon of that guild is that it completely stinks and only jerks are in it.

BTW, I wasn't the one who recruited the jerk monk.

Other than that, I don't have too many problems save for the arena.

I'm a level 19 Mo/Me and would be happy to be part of your group. If you're interested, whisper me in game. I am usually on by 9pm EST.

That offer goes out to anyone looking for a decent group to play with. If I am available, I would be happy to tag along. I especially enjoy helping lower level characters even though I've already done the missions.

Whilst you are right, of course, please remember that some of these players will be new to the game or don't have much experience of playing co-operative online games. Your post seems to indicate you are a little, erm, impatient and this doesn't always bring out the best in fellow teammates. When you play with random groups of people be prepared for some frustration. However, don't forget that you also meet some really nice, helpful and fun peeps who you might just go on to be good friends with. It's all part of the experience

I'll definately look for you folks.

My char is an E/ME14 named Baldeon Maegward. All of my characters have the last name Maegward btw.

I've been trying to finish the bonus at Frost Gate where the four healers are riding the drolnar (sic?) beasties, and are healing a bunch of hammer warriors. I've failed that bonus 4-5 times now because everyone rushes and then fights the warriors instead of the healers. Sigh. I even prepped each party (MUST KILL THE HEALERS FIRST - IGNORE THE WARRIORS, etc.). No go.

I'm definately up for playing with folks that take it serious.

I have made the observation that the more eloquent (meaning that they care to write out the words they want to say) the group-inviting messages are, the higher the chance of the group being good/mature.

I had some shitty group that got completely owned in Abaddon's Mouth, because the 2 Warriors decided to take a route west and aggro some huge mobs and stuff.

Some days ago I was in Abaddon's Mouth again looking for a group. So thru all those "Monk LFG" "LFP pm me!" and other SMS-like messages I wrote "Any group in here in need of a competent healer for the mission?", and promptly got messaged back "doesn't have to be competent, just mature". ^_^
And that despite I am an El/Mo who specializes in healing - normally people want a MONK in the group, not a healer...

Needless to say that group was one of the best I have ever had. We spent some more time in Abaddon's Mouth looking for an 8th member but it was well worth the time, and we got a nice chat running too. We literally stormed thru the mission, and got to the last big boss (to avoid spoilers here) in Hell's Precipice, but lost eventually because 2 of our members got disconnected. But the point is, in that group we would wait for a player if he had to take a trip to the toilett in the mission and stuff like that.

I would never invite someone who writes stuff like "LFG 4 mis" and all those abbreviations. No offence, but I think people that don't care to write out stuff in town, where there is absolutely no stress at all, don't care for any tactic in missions too.

Just my 2 cents.

How very true. When I did Elona's, there was one douchebag standing there spamming
LFG FR MISION NO MOTHER (expletive) N00BZ!!!1!!!!

Needless to say, he was still standing there yapping (I made note of the district) when I was done with the mission. Let's see, you're rude, you can't spell and you probably have the mental capacity of a five year old (and that's being nasty to five year olds). Yes, I'm going to join up with you!

I'll be real honest. I've been playing GW since it's official release, and I have noticed that each time I go through the game with a new character, that the general level of intelligence declines each time. On my first char, it was fun, people were friendly, had an IQ above 20, and most importantly, didn't leave or go afk until the mission was over.

Now, it takes 20 minutes just to get a balanced group in the later missions, and you'll be lucky if one or two people don't leave half way through. All the while, the people that remain are aggroing 4 groups of enemies at once, bickering with each other over item drops, drawing useless crap all over the compass, and generally ensuring that the mission will end in failure.

I don't know how to fix this, short of finding a good PvE guild, but I'm already in a PvP one. This recent change in the player base has me having second thoughts about attempting to complete the game with a 4th PvE character.

I'm a level 20 Ranger/Monk, like long walks on the breach, candle lit dinners at Piken Square, and harrasing the local Charr into giving me little wooden statues of themselves.

I have a friendly guild of five, looking to build an "brady bunch" style family. I prefer turning down my music during play and pushing up the sound FX and my team speak client.

Hobbies include: Hating Gafar and his minions; looting corpses, collecting tangled seeds, and playing with fire (typically ignite arrows).

Looking for: male warrior with shining 15K armor and a max damage fire sword. Ability to cast Purge Condition a plus.

Earlier this evening I called for a group of 3 people to attempt Frostgate. We won, and both players were really good, willing to work together.

If you can pull it, deliberately making small/biased groups will get you people who want to play the missions, not people who want to rush through.

For some reason, I have had extremely good luck with PUGs. I don't think I've run into more than a couple of truly stupid groups. The rest were pretty articulate, had decent manners, and were well-organized. They either elected a leader and target-caller, or they tacitly deferred to people who assumed this role. They got the job done. I feel fortunate to have been invited to join them.

On the other hand, there were those exceptions, and I must say that they were far more entertaining than annoying. You still try to do your best and all that, but watching them run off in different directions, aggroing mobs, getting lost ("WHER TEH F-- R U PEPOL?/") -- and then watching their health bars go down -- absolutely hilarious. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Anyway, my W/E 20 is named Nwah Swit. I'm working on the Ascension quests, but I'd be pleased to help -- or learn -- whenever or wherever I can.

I like using my level 20 monk (recently ascended) to help people on missions. I gain xp, items, personal knowledge/skills about gameplay strategies.

I only started the monk because i was sick of seeing a lack of them in later missions when i leveled up my ranger. It gives me great enjoyment to join a team, know i did a good job with the healing and help get several people on the path to ascendance (sp).

There are bad times but they are outweighed by the good.

Lord Malikai. 20 W/E, beat the game. Leroy Jenkins is my hero. It's all about being the first one in to battle, the first to taste blood, whether it be your enemies or your own. Casters in panties and leather have no place on the battlefield. This is a place for men. Stay back, way back and let the real men do the job. You guys are all sounding like pansies to me, waiting around and trying to woo the mobs into coming to you. Screw that, go to them, lay waste to their town, loot their corpses and enslave their women!

/sarcasm off

I really do think that's what goes through some warriors heads.
