Hello,
Could sum1 please tell me how many and which xtra skills you get by choosing your secondary skill.
eg: If I was an elementalist/ ranger would I get all the elementalist skils plus all the ranger ones or just some of them and if so, does that include elite skills.
Thx

Is it that much harder to type proper words? Someone instead of sum1, extra instead of xtra?

You can use all skills of your primary and secondary professions.

8 skills total out of whatever you have founda/received/purchased and currently I believe it's 75 a profession.

You can use 8 from one profession I think or mix em between em however you want.

Thanks for the info but wouldn't this mean that it didn't matter which way round you chose you secondary and primary proffesions in the long term.
e.g: warrior/ mesmer would be the same as mesmer/ warrior???

you cant change your primary

you would have to start a new character with the new primary

not a big deal in any case

edit

no completely different

warrior has small energy pool compared to mesmer

that is why one is PRIMARY and the other is a secondary profession

do you mean what attributes your main/secondary char get? if so these are the main attributes for every class

warrior- strength necro- soul reaping
mesmer- fast cast
element- energy storage
monk- divine favor
ranger- exprtise

so for exapmple if you chose a warrior/necro you would get strength as a main attribute but would not get soul reaping, but you would still get blood magic, death and curses

same goes for every other class

for elite skills:
you can select an elite from pri or sec profession line.
Doesn't matter which one, but pay attention to which attribute line the elite skill is related.

Here is an Elementalist primary and Mesmer secondary:
Water Master
Choose in the Menu View > Show Skill Selection and you browse through all available skills for the combination.
The number of skills can be seen in Menu "pages" (10 per Page ).
Choose View->Show Attribs and you see the attribute lines available.
Playing with the attribs as impact on the Skill effects.
Play around (its drag n drop ) and you should get an impression about skill combination.

If you're new to the game and the forums you ought to check out our
New Player Center.

Make sure to check out the professions page as well. Read up on each character's primary attribute at what it does.

Finally, while it's true that a Mesmer/Warrior has access to all the same skills that a Warrior/Mesmer has, they will have completely different playstyles.

For example, a Mesmer/Warrior has access to Fast Casting, the mesmer primary-only attribute. That also gives him access to Mantra of Recovery, a skill linked to Fast Casting that makes all spells recharge twice as fast. He will still be able to learn skills from Strength, the warrior-primary only attribute, but he wont be able to improve his strength at all. So while he could learn power attack, he will never be able to improve the damage his power attack does, making it essentially a useless skill for him.

Similarly, a Warrior/Memser will likely use a skill like power attack regularly, but Mantra of Recovery will be useless to him, because it requires an additional energy cost with each spell cast, and the cost scales with how high your Fast Casting score is. The Warrior character will have his fast casting permanently set to 0- so using the skill just isn't realistic at all.

If you are an Elementalist/ Ranger, you get every single elementalist skill and every single ranger skill. However, you do NOT get the Ranger's primary attribute which is expertise so that does 2 things: because expertise vastly reduces the cost for many ranger skills, it may not be viable to be spamming bow attacks everywhere, and secondly, all the skills tied to the attribute of Expertise would suck because it would be impossibly for you to raise their associated attribute. You do, however, get the Elementalist's primary attribute: Energy Storage so if you plan on spamming elementalist spells, take elementalist primary.

The order of your professions does a couple important things:

1) It determines your primary attribute.
2) It determines the way you look.
3) It determines what kind of armour you where.
4) It determines what kind of runes you can use.
