Release Notes?

This may be a question that no one knows the answer to yet..but when the game is released we know that updates will be done via streaming content at any time without you even realize it's being done. If that happens, will patch notes be released to show the changes? Lots of times patches contain changes to skills which would be important to know.

i think you will need to actually look at a skill to see if it has been changed

they will be making constant improvements patches on the fly whatever

to have a constantly updated list of all changes would be nice at the GW or fansites it probably wont happen

probably the admin/mods here will try to keep up and revize the on site info

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I guess there could be an on going thread listing changes on fansite. Its nothing I'm really concerned about, but in other games patch notes are typically used to keep players informed of changes they may not otherwise notice. I just don't want to miss anything that might be useful

those are regularly scheduled patches

to take an extreme position the game will be one on going patch with no schedule

as soon as something comes up

bam it is fixed

no waiting a week for the fix (or a month)

they will probably release notes if a serious problem or update was patched, or maybe just general release notes every month or week on the major stuff that was changed. theyre not goingg to update that so and so NPC now has a bettter vocabulary or that one more spawn was added on such and such map, ect ect ect

No complaints here...I love this update system over your typical patch system. Hopefully, major changes will be documented somewhere

Hopefully?... not to worry There is no doubt in my mind that the admins here will be constantly ahead of the game (so to speak)

You know, you could put pressure on the guys who write the teambuilder software to have an up-to-date index, referencing the patch and change, that can be viewed online at any time (Talk about site traffic!)

This is somewhat of a concern to me, that in all the streaming tech craze they'll forget about patch notes.

Having to rely on fansites or thirdparty software just know if a skill has changed? No thanks, I'd rather hear it straight from the horse's mouth right away. Imagine having to look thru all 450 skill each morning before you are about to pvp just to see if some skill has changed overnight, ha! And what if you stopped playing for 1-2 months, there has to be an easy way to see what missions and other stuff has been added during that time, instead of being forced to dig thru a fansite forum...

Futhermore I'm not to found of all the updates that are occuring during the bwe's that you have no idea about what they do, sure I don't need to read about some dialoge changes, but since they aren't even announcing the important changes I find the whole thing a little bothersome

Well, but recently I read that skill changes are being posted by the devs in the alpha forum, so they'll probably post those in public after release.

Has there been any official word on build notes? I would definately like to see whenever "such-and-such" had been fixed, or "anticipated-feature" has been added, even if there is a little lag time between streamed patching and build notes.

Also, what about a test server? Usualy mmogs have one to run their patches on so they don't use their main community as lab rats, potentialy poisoning the world with a temporary exploit like uber item floods or accidentaly undefeatable foes. Though perhaps its not needed with the streaming because a dev could recieve the bug report and fix it on the fly before serious damage could be caused..
