I'm not going to turn this into a recruitment post, as 9 people or so already have,
I left an uber small guild (about 7 or so members) to Join Warrior Nation, which is a multi-game community of about ~2000 members, anyway, we have the problem of Too many people comming over to guildwars, so we split the group in 2,
we bought 2 guild halls, 2 identical capes, and Two similar names.
One Guild is for the Casual log on when you want to which has pretty close to 100 members, 50 or so active a day, and the other guild is all hardcore PvP Junkies, which has 40 members.
Whats Great about this arangement is if someone isn't happy with one or another they can move.
We share the same boards and community intrests and help eachother, it works great. To see an example :
http://www.warriornation.net/Forum/f...play.php?f=401 (jumps right to the guildwars section, no recruiting stuff I promise)
So Maybe just keep merging untill you get full then do a split like we did.
Now, there are close to 4000 small 1-10 person guilds, and while the point was made that mergers can be painful, here are a few suggestions:
If two guilds merge, The one with the Hall Already should be the staying guild, goes without saying.
If Two guilds Merge that both have a guild hall, see if your halls are the same, if they are diffrent do a few unrated GvG matches to see which one you like better, then vote on it.
If Two Guilds merge, there better be a forum setup between the two.
When the merger happens, hold it to a vote weather or not to change the cape, if more people vote yes, then hold a contest to design the new joined cape, then vote on the submissions, give people ownership of what they are now apart of.
Wish we could gather up all the small guilds

I've advocated on other sites that perhaps things could be instituted for small guilds. Perhaps guilds register based on their player size and then, as they win PvP matches, they move up in rankings and to fighting larger guilds.
For non-PvP guild, I wish we could earn sigils through some sort of PvM quest or series of quests. Then, rather than a guild hall, perhaps groups could earn a "campsite" where they could band together with fellow guildmates.
*shrugs* I doubt that anyone really gives a rip about the little guy. It's all about being the BMoGW.

Our guild did one of these such mergers, we're still small but it works great for all of us. The hardest part honestly was merging the two threads together, and we're still working out details as for what our policies will be. The give and take was we kept group A's hall, kept group B's cape, merged the name (which worked nicely), kept group B's webhost as it was the better deal, retained all officers who resigned with the new guild and started having fun.
Anyhow I thought I'd share the success story to let you guys know that it can be done. The process is a little scary and it does take a lot of willingness from the guild leader and officers to get it done well.

i am in the same boat as a lot of people (i am assuming) a friend of mine got the game and convinced me to get it too (which i am happy about) he had dreams of starting a guild and making it a huge success. there are 3 people in it after 2 months, him, myself and his brother. he talked about trying to find a guild kind enough to take us in, but he is a power freak and cant handle losing. so a pvp guild wouldnt suit him. I on the other hand play for FUN, if i lose, i get upset, but I know its not the end of the world. i have never been in more then a 4 person pvp pug in the arenas. i dont know if i should abandon his guild or what. we do still do a lot of pve together.......... maybe i am off topic or rambling, i apologize

yeah same prob here I play under my bros account and we decided to start a guild which was over a month ago. Anyways we were able to recruit some members, ppl have come and gone, have about 13 right now some of them are casual players and some active which is what i was going for, but now its tuff getting us together since its like around 3-4 of us on at the same time and I was looking for us to do some pvp, pve, etc. earlier we were able to do some things together but now its hard to get ppl together for these events. Of course we got the cape and hall also i got us a site which was tuff since i dont know much about creating sites (guildportal.com made it a bit easier) but only a few have signed on. But now me and my brother have been thinking of mergin with some other guild instead of just abandoning the guild which is something I would never think of doing but I guess a merger would be something I would be willing to do as long as I merge with a good group of players. Good topic I needed a place to talk about this
