You really want someone to tell you and ruin all the fun? I wont tell you everything, but you ascend when you reach the desert, and complete the missions there. If you look at your map you can see that geographically you are heading in that direction. You should be there soon. I consider ascension to be the halfway point of the game, after that is when all the fun begins.

Am I going too fast, or is he going too slow? I've got about 60 hours, level 18, and I'm on Aurora Glades...

you are halfway done with the story

total of 25 storyline missions

Beyond bloodstone fen,
you have 3 more missions and you will be at Crystal Desert
(which has 3 mission towns)

beyond Crystal Desert,
there are 7 missions (im including Dragons Lair)

Just play the game. if you are a higher level than most of the people in the outposts and towns you are probably going slower than most....if you are a lower level you are probably going faster than most....either way it doesn't matter. Enjoy the game for what it is.....move along at whatever pace you feel is the most beneficial to your enjoyment

Without the "duh" comment, I agree... it doesn't matter how long it takes you to get there. The nice thing about this game is being able to play at your own pace.
