Pre-Searing Updates Needed!!
SirCrowbar
I am not the only one who was disapointed that the armor sets from the collectors are not complete. We need to show intrest in this before the develepmental staff will dicide if it is worth fixing. (there words, not mine)
What I would like to see:
Necromancer's Tunic
- I sugest a collector in The Catacombs in the room where you find the courpse of the Prize Moa Bird. (they had a collector in there in beta)
Elementalist's Tunic
- There was a collector in Regent Valley near Fort Ranik. Sounds like a good enough place to me.
Mesmer's Gloves
- They were never included to my knowledge. I dont play a Mesmer Primary so I do not have any location sugestions for this item.
* Removal of duplicate Leather Vest (Ranger) *
- The collector in Ashford gives up two ranger items for Unatural Seeds. This is just unbalanced. One collector offering the Vest is enough. The vest should not be too easy, so I reccomend only keeping it on the collector near the bridge to Regent Valley
A little more lore would be nice. Maybee more than one quest in The Northlands. I also recomend a Final quest for Pre-Searing to get a nice weapon before leaving. Nothing too powerful, but make it profesion specific. Just a thought. It could reduce the temptation for new players to eBay for high-end weapons or for gold to get decent weapons and gear. Make the weapons have a very good ability that would make a level apropriate person desire it. A good example is the Longbow of Fortitude offered as a quest reward for The Hunter's Horn quest. It is the only Bow I know of with an incredibly valuble +5 to Energy. All rangers love this bow!
Just my thoughts.
Please share your thoughts to let the Development Staff know that just a few small changes can make a big diferance in the over-all game for new and veteral players.

I'd like to see an upgraded cap for my warrior...or is there a collector for that and I just haven't found him/her?(I've searched all of pre searing with my "uber-1337" lvl 10 warrior:P)
SirCrowbar
to my knowledge they have no upgrades to the headgear for any clas untill you get to post...

Dear Developers, Publishers, and whoever is actually a Decision Maker: Please spend time on other things, not pre-academy armor sets.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Alll Opposed?

Pre-Searing should be complete, not incomplete. It makes some of the newer players fell like will if it is not worth the developers time to fix a few simple things, what makes me think they will fix things in the rest of the game?
I help alot of people through Pre-Searing quests on their way to the Acadomy. I always here the same replys when I tell them that the Necro & Elem Tunics are missing. "When are they going to put them back in?"
This is the only way for thier voices to be heard. Just becouse some people rush through the begining of the game does not mean that it should be compromized!

When I first got the game I spent a whole extra day looking for my Mesmer gloves. Maybe I'm just weird because I wanted a complete new set before I moved on.
I was new I didn't know that I'd be able to get new armor right away. Now I've moved on, my new characters don't have to have all the presearing armor but it is nice to have especially if you're low on money when moving over to post. I don't think it'd take a lot of time for the powers that be to put in a few more items at already existing collectors.

If they want to mess aroudn with armor in presearing, axe the collectors and put an armor seller in ascalon. There could be low requirements or money costs only.
SirCrowbar
I hope that the developers realize that there is a demand for the updates in Pre-Searing Ascalon. They are not big updates, just small ones. Ones to finish off the rounding out of young characters.
I look forward to more opinions...

Some on pointed out to me today (ingame) that there is a colector in Fort Ranik that does not have anything even offered any more. I can remember the NPC's name, but he collects Unnatural Seeds. He simply sais "I dont have anything to trade at this time". I remember traders doing that all the time during the Beta Weekend events. I was unaware that there were any traders left without something to trade. Maybee this would be a good one to just put the missing items on and complete the sets. It would only take just a few minutes to change the AI to offer the missing pieces.
It may not be as elaberate as my original sugestions, but at leased it would complete the sets for those who are looking.
Not one day goes by that some one does not ask ingame "where can I get" or "when are they going to fix it".

Yeah...I was wondering about that trader as well...but it never bugged me enough to say anything about it(I'm lazy, sorry :P)
Anyways, for the people who think pre-searing shouldn't be completed...
Why not?
I'm going to be spending my first 16 levels there, why shouldn't it be complete?

yes :P Only way to get to level 16 is...patience..time...and the level 10 charr bosses, which you get to fight 4 of when you load the northlands
you also need a helpful side kick who's willing to sit by at the gate to the northlands(reading a book or some such) while you kill the charr bosses, he leaves, you re-enter and it starts over again. Otherwise, you can only get to level 14 from the regular level 8 charr. What's funny, is you get to level 16, finish all the quests, and when you go post, you finish a quest in Ascalon city, and it says So-and-so is now level 17!
Kind of sucks how you cant compete in an arena until Kryta though

I know that I personally spend ALOT of time in Pre-Searing messing with builds. So far I have raised about 10 Characters to level 5 in Pre just to see if they are any fun. I think there needs to be a better foundation for the story set in Pre, but thats just me...
SirCrowbar
Thank you for some REAL feedback!!
I hate the people who post comments that undermine the theme of this thread. I love both Pre & Post Searing areas. I have 2 characters in each. I just would like to see the developers finish of the last few little things that players find wrong with the Pre-Searing area.
In an interesting note, I have now documented all the quest reward items in Pre, and will be posting them soon. Just for the people who would like to know.

That coming from someone who posts on a thread only to bash it . "Hate the people that post their opinion" indeed.
Most people would prefer to have the entire game fixed up, rather than having problems shunted aside and left alone, never to be solved.

Yeah it is annoying that some of the collectors have no items for trade. Did they fix the collector in the entrance of the catacombs that wants gargalyole skulls?
I do agree that there should be some final quest, perhaps in the northlands to give a semi powerful weapon that's class specific.

I think each classes should get a head piece. Everything else is in, I belive.
And I think you shouldn't be able to rush pre-searing, too many people go post-searing at level 3... it urks me. (Yep, i'm a perfectionist... I had to complete ALL the pre-searing content for my mule character...)

I am glad that I am not the only one who feels obligated to finish all the quests in pre-searing before moving on. I do that for every character, even if I dont plan on keeping them long term.
Something craftible would be nice for Pre-Searing, as the craft items there are not really worth crafting. But I would like to see the small fixes before they do anything big.
Has anyone ever crafted a weapon? I know I have not. Is it auto-customized? It should be. Hmmm....

I now have all the quest rewards for Pre-Searing documented. Should I post a link in the forums, or the info itself?

Quite a few people don't leave pre-searing Ascalon for some time because they mistakenly believe the missing armor quests are there!
Secondly, as a few posters have already famously reported, the intial impression the game makes with people should be important to the developers and producer - and I know it is.
The impression we unfortunately receive is that the game is incomplete!
I know, I know, you're thinking "Well how long did you stay?"
Let's just say I have every square millimeter of Pre-Searing mapped before I left for the apocalypse of the future.

I think they still have to fix some things mentionned for pre-searing for newer players.
The first time through this game, I reached lv 9, uncovered most of the pre-searing map, and did most of the quests i could find before moving on to post.

Except that the developers want to sleep sometimes. =)
When someone comes here and points out that they aren't that interested in a particular feature (for instance, pre-academy armor), no one should get offended. I'm not here to "bash the thread" (I didn't know the thread got offended), I'm here to express my opinions and desires to ArenaNet, like everyone else.
If asked to prioritize what I want the most, pre-Academy armor would be a very low priority indeed. It's as reasonable for me to tell the manufacturers that as it is for others to say that it's the most important thing to them. And for all of you who have posted in favor of it, please make some mention of how important you think it is. There's an infinite list of things people would like to have.
Just signing a thread doesn't really mean anything. I'm not against them adding blueberry muffins to Guild Wars, but I'd have a long list of things I'd like first. (And I really like blueberry muffins.)
SirCrowbar
I personally prefer poppyseed muffins, but I completely agree about priority of updates. There are alot of things I would like to see come first, like the removal or rare crafting items from the non-rare materials traders. I am constantly havaing to go between them to decide who to sell it too.
I would like to see more sub-storyline quests in Post. There seems to be more storyline quest saturation in Pre vs Post if you look at it in a quest per square mile kind of way.
The reason I started this thread was to create some discussion about the updates that are needed in Pre, to simply round out the finishing touches to a well made and constantly evolving game.
Thank you to everyone who has shared an ontopic opinion!

Yes.
That 5% is as important as the remaining 95%.

You know, I once went from pre-searing to post at level 2 (I didn't keep this chararcter btw).
Anyway, I don't much wrong with pe-searing, I don't stay there all that long, but I don't see any major problems or minor.

I would love to see complete armor sets implemented.
I'm one of those guys who hangs around Pretty Ascalon for a while helping people find Foible's Fair, fending off those guys trying to buy black dye, etc. One of the most frequently asked questions I hear is "Where is [profession]'s [armor piece]?" It's sort of upsetting that I have to tell them it's not available. It also makes you wonder when the guy spamming it is lvl10.

The only other problem I have found is that if you get a rune in Pre - you have to take it to post before you can do anything with it. But if they gave you a way to deal with runes before you got to Post, it would gratly upset the delicate ballance of Pre.
The last thing some one wants to do is face off againsed a level 16 ranger with a level 16 pet, with a high end Bow with 2 nice upgrades, and a full set of minor runes when encountering thier first PVP experiance.
That could potentially make new players stop playing. That is why I belive balace is so important in a MMOG.

Part of me was kind of hopping that wendsdays update would bring some love to those who are still in Pre-Searing Ascalon. The rest of me knew that this was still not high enough on the developers priority list.

It has been confirmed that the Elementalist's Tunic has now been added to the previously unused trader in Fort Ranik. Now to see if the other two items have made there way into the game yet. I will post more on this on monday.
=HT=Ingram
there are some missing armor pieces, true, but otherwise Kingdoms of ascalon seems fine too me. its suppose to be a tutorial anyway. and the level cap is lev 15 for kingdoms area. going beyond that has in the past cause problems when you go through the academy. Namely it crashes and you can't finish it. I had to remake a character once because of that problem... I left a character back in presearing to help out people in our guild that were new to the game, and needed the help learning the game... by the time I was level 16 I whent with a friend forward just to take him through the academy and show him around... and the character never worked again after that... I had to delete it and remake it... in recent patches they said they were going to cap the pre-searing kingdoms of ascalon to Lev15, to avoid the problem.
