Best buy presell..
1 pages • Page 1
Well, the topic has shown up elsewhere, I tried to do a quick search for it but for some odd reason nothing showed up. I just posted in the thread two days ago though, so I do have an answer.
From what people are saying, Best Buy is trying to screw those of us who have Preordered through them, saying that they will not honor the preorder as an actual deposit for the game, and that you must pay full retail price for the game once it is released on the 28th. I see no possible way for them to actually get away with that, and what I'm thinking has happened, or rather hoping has happened, would be that some Best Buy salesperson had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. Not an all too uncommon occurence, what with the work ethic of today's youth (a majority at least, I'm happy to say that I'm not counted amongst that group), but if there is a problem, you'll definitely want to rant and rave to a manager about it, and don't relent until justice prevails. I'll be going in at about 12:40 PM on the 28th to pick up my copy, and I'll try and find a computer to post what happened so others know ahead of time.

Best Buy has a deal going: if you pre-order Guild Wars, you get the pre-sell for free (only checked online, can't really say what they'll do for in-store pre-orders). I can only assume that if you bought the pre-sell seperate without pre-ordering, it'll either happen as Ren described or you get shafted. Of course, with the horror stories I've been hearing from Best Buy lately, I wouldn't be all that surprised . . .
I think it works the same way as it does pre-ordering thru CompUSA...you spend $10.00 for a pre-order package consisting of a few but not all the same things that come in the collector's edition. I think they apply that $10.00 towards the purchase of the actual game(compusa does anyways) however...the actual game may not ship until the 28th, might want to check that out...

ive worked at best buy at the CS desk and this is how pre-orders are supposed to work:
you take your receipt to the CS desk along with the retail box. you tell them that you preordered this game. they will ask you to fill out this thing called a CPO and sign it at the bottom. they will then deduct the preorder price from the purchase price, run the CPO through the printer, and give you the yellow copy once you pay. they may copy your previous receipt as well.
if that does not happen, ask for the manager.

1. People who pick up the game and go to the register to purchse. Usually results in frustration having to then go wait in the CS line.
2.Idiots (yes) who work there and dont understand thier own stores proceedure.
The 10.00 will be taken off the final price for you. If someone at the CS says no and wants to charge you full price, ask (politely) for a manager or ask for a refund. My understanding is that they have to offer you store credit (more likely to get this) or refund on the preorder, they cant deny you either of those options.
