I can't seem to get anyone to answer this simple question: What reduces physical damage more, ascalon or wyvern armor?

ascalon- i note that the wyvern doesn't look that great and too weird- its supposed to be scaly not ribbed like that and i despise the helm
but stat wise wyvern doesn't have that ' reduces physical damage' mod

Wrong, wrong , wrong. Ascalon armor's bonus is replaced by absorbtion runes. In the early stages of the game it is a good idea to get one piece of it, but more than one does nothing. Also, please use search.

The search rarely helps me.. and Lovely, you tell me right after I load up on Ascalon Armor... So basically, I should have one piece of ascalon armor, and the rest wyvern at this point?

Actually, this has changed now (it was recently tested). Absorption runes and the damage reduction modifiers now stack properly.

Yes, and that piece of Ascalon armour should be on your hands or feet so that it is hit less often. I'd actually recommend Gladiator's over Wyvern, but it doesn't really matter.

Edit: If you're not at Droknar's Forge yet, I'd actually recommend getting the plain Ringmail armour so you can save up your materials for later.

actually it should be on the feet because firestorm and a lot of spells can hit your hands if they come down from the sky.

Well then, I tried equipping all Gladiator armor, except for the boots which is ascalon, like you said, and the helm, which is a Duelist's helm for swordmanship.... and I got DESTROYED!! Something is very wrong with some of your logic because It's clear my defence suffers a lot from that change! What's going on?

Dahl, so if you go back with Ascalon or Wyvern armor and reproduce the battle exactly like before, you will not get destroyed? And then put back on the Gladiator armor you will get destroyed? Am I understanding you correctly?

Have you verified this? What were the test conditions like? Is it reproducible?

One of these days I need to perform this test to see for myself.

The full set of Ascalon Armor, defended me more than One piece of Asclalon Armor + The rest Gladiator. I tested this outside of Yak's Bend at the Stone Summits. The very first small group outside of Yak's Bend nearly killed me (I had maybe 30 hp left) While with the full set fo Ascalon Armor, I cleared them without any difficulty.
