Gladiator and chainmail armour

If you look at the specs of chainmail and gladiator armour and compare them you may notice that gladiator armour is better than chainmail full stop.
It's got 65 armour, 20+ vs physical dmg and extra energy!!!
Chainmail however also has 65 armour, 20+ vs phsical dmg but no energy upgrade.
Hence gladiator will always be better than chainmail so there's no point in me buying chainmail even though i like the design so much more than gladiator.
Not only this but how can gladiator armour which barely covers half of you get +20 vs physical dmg.

If you have managed to understand my wafling so far then good because here's the suggestions:
1. Either gladiator armour drops it's +20 vs. physical dmg
2. Or chainmail gets a higher overall armour value- say 75

Thats why max armour chainmail is collectors and doesnt actuallycost you any money /notsigned

i do agree chain should have a bit more AL vs physical damage...not against magical damage tho. i sure wouldnt want to be in ring mail under fire magic.

but who cares about the look anyway, every freaking character got the same 2 types of armor, so its not like you are going to be any special...

oh yeah, you can dye like 10% of the surface of your armor...great. now you are truely unique.

Examine the costs of a Gladiator's chest and a Chainmail chest. You may notice that if you can't afford the tanned hide squares, that you can always settle for Chainmail.

And considering the number of people that beg for like 50 gold, this is a highly plausible situation for many people.
