i am a ranger now, want to stay pure ranger, nothing but a ranger actually. But if I become a warrior secondary, will i get a health advantage?
and can I get past searing without choosing a secondary?

You need a 2nd profession before you go to searing
I was in the same boat - wanted a pure warrior - ended up taking ranger as 2nd - you can pick a 2nd and elect not to do anything with it tho - just keep putting your skill points on ranger and only use ranger skills - you don't get any health/energy advantages from a 2nd profession - any physical benefit a mainyl from the armour your primary profession can wear

Every character gets the same amount of hit points, so no.
You have to choose a secondary to get out of pre-searing. Don't worry, you don't gain any disadvantages and you don't have to put any attribute points into their skill lines.

You definetly don't have to pick a secondary profession. You can enter the Academy without one and go post searing.

really? where is that academy? or do you mean talk to tydus? Cuz whenever I talk to tydus he tells me to get a 2nd profession.

Pick a Monk secondary and assign no attributes. Just get a ressurection spell to help out when partied with others.

hmm, I really JUST want to be a ranger, but I guess there is no other way. I think Ima be a monk, yeah.

Warrior is a very suitable choice for a marksman ranger. All you have to do is put Fury on your skill bar. Even at low levels Fury + Read the Wind = Happy Machine Gun Ranger.
Everybody and their sister has monk as a secondary. Fight the power!

I'm a R/W....I stack my ranger attributes and I use 2 warrior spells "Sprint" and "Fury"...I'm essentially Pure Ranger.

I believe having a secondary in PvE is required to enter the Academy.
As far as secondaries for a primary ranger, some small things to consider:
Warrior: Warriors get some useful stances which would benefit Ranger's Expertise.
Necromancer: R/Ne is the combination of a million pets, most undead. =-]
Elementalist: The primary bonus of Elementalist is getting something like Conjure Flame, which can add some extra damage if you have a Flame bow (but there's similar ones for Water, Earth, and Air).
Mesmer: Ranger/Mesmers are easily one of the best disruption classes. This is more highly valued in PvP than PvE, but still definitely useful.
Monk: As pretty much everyone knows, having Monk as secondary allows you to use an infinite ressurection skill instead of Signet of Ressurection, which is very useful. For nearly any non-monk class, if you want to be "pure" yet still gain SOME benefit, secondary Monk really IS a fine idea. (Without making it a debate about this, most players carry some kind of ressurection with them at nearly all times in PvE. If you aren't using a secondary class for anything, it might as well be better than the one-shot signet.)
