Orison OF Healing
MasterWS
Orison of healing must be re-made as it used to be with the lower active time ...
blackbisket33
You mean the casting time of 1 or the recharge time of 2?
FengShuiBundi
I really don't see a need for Orison in my monk builds anymore. Word of Healing or Heal Other (I prefer this one) is much better for allies, and it heals A LOT!
For self heals, it's either Divine Boon or Healing Touch. If you aren't using boon, touch is a crazy self heal. If you use boon, just use it to self heal too because it is instant in all regards IIRC.
Hey, you only really need 2 healing spells.
OT: Word of Healing needs to be changed so that the extra heal is applied WITH the initial, and not added after checking to see if the initial heal left health over or less than 50%. Right now I'd rather use Heal Other, even with the extra energy and recharge times. That elite spot is better off in energy drain.

Did orison become a slower cast?

I don't see a need for Orison, either. As far as direct heals go, I use Reversal of Fortune, Word of Healing, and Signet of Devotion. They're all cheap and very effective.
FengShuiBundi
Eww, Signet of Devotion is scary! The cast time is 2 seconds IIRC and it has a nasty recharge to boot. Sure it heals a lot, but one could replace that with a blessed signet in maintenence heavy builds or healing touch if you aren't going that route.
How many healing spells does one really need? 3, at the most. Word/Heal Other , Healing Touch/Boon (Self heals with great bonuses), and maybe Orison. But as you can see, Orison can't compete with a Booned Heal Other or Booned Word of Healing. Booned Healing Touch is amazing, and self boon spamming is great too.
Heal Other/Word - Divine Boon - Healing Touch
At the most. Recharges might hurt, but you should be running 3 monks anyway (2 healing, one protection). And you shouldn't be healing unless they drop below 75%.
I can see SoD being useful against a backfire, but it's one of those things where if a mesmer has got you in its sights, you won't be doing much anyway.
Infuse Health is one to sub in to counter poorly executed spikes which your team didn't prot. spirit/spellbreaker for.

Signet of Devotion is great. Even in the Underworld or the Fissure of Woe, people don't take damage so fast that I have to use an instant heal, most of the time. Especially with Aegis or Protective Spirit, I usually have enough time for Signet of Devotion to be effective. If someone is taking heavy damage, then I've got Reversal of Fortune and Word of Healing to bring them back up.
With Divine Boon, especially when you don't have Signet of Devotion, you will run out of mana extremely fast. Healing Touch is a good self heal, but it isn't very useful for much else. Reversal of Fortune is superior, in my opinion, since it is much more versatile, and it counters damage spikes.

Ye but the fact is before orison get nerfed ... i could easily sit in front of warrior taking alot heavy dmg healing myself with orison + touch for mins n mins (ive tested 36 mins taking dmg and they called me hacker lol ) ps: (ppl that dont kno about balthazar spirit drive me sick ><) well it was good old days of showin the overpower monk heals to ppl athought monk still powerfull but yet when orison was 1 sec cast man it was insane lol thats my point T_T btw i dont see signet of devotion to be that effective ... Also has anyone ever made those pure enchant healing / prot monks with blessed signet as mana supply ? i played with one today that spammed like 8 enchants for whole group lol was awesome eheheh !

Does your Elementalist still use Flare?
There goes your reason to not use Orison of Healing, right?
