Swords get the shaft
Coldplayer44
I just happend to be in the neighborhood and decided to talk to the rune trader. and i couldnt help but notice that the superior rune for sword is much more than the hammer or axe. Sword superior is like 22 plat and hammer and axe are lik 2-8 wtf is up with that.
Mumblyfish
Too many Swordsmanship Warriors. Supply and demand, it's not getting the shaft or anything. If you want less competition for equipment, go axes or hammer.

No not true. Swords are at least balanced, if not too powerful. Mumblyfish is right: be because everyone plays sword warriors, everyone wants sword runes, and therefore there are fewer runes to go around, and therefore the trader can charge more.

Swords are most popular not because they're any better, but because everyone wants to run around with their 'I ARE LEET' Dragon Swords (even though the fiery bonus is crap for non W/Els).

After looking at the damage of the axes, hammers and swords, then weighing in the Def of one hand vs two. I found that swords have nice consistent damage. Axes do not. Hammers have huge damage but you loose too much defense in my opinion.
So I use axes if I get a few critical hits with my axe you are going to see your life drop FAST. That makes a better PvP weapon as it is harder to predict what the life of your party members is going to be doing.
Making timing heals very difficult, instead of watching the life drop slow and knowing you have X time before they need healing.
Besides swords are just too common, and with a name like “Skull Splitter” how could I use anything but Axes? (I made the name for an Axe warrior)

wait what? How do you swords have any more defensive options than axes? If you're talking about the 2 sword parry skills, then well, they're pretty much worthless IMO, just like most of the defensive stances. Especially in pvp, where nobody will target a warrior until everyone else is dead, defenses are meaningless. You should just go either damage or disruption, for damage axes are better, and for disruption both axes and hammers are better =P
