BF2 is going to sell very very well and easily overtake GW. It's only demanding graphic card wise, and not that demanding at that. Anyone who hasn't upgraded from their Geforce 4 yet would need to do so very soon anyway.

FYI, FPS games don't sell that well, compared to RPGs or strategy games.

I don't have sales charts memorized, but Unreal Tournament, Painkiller, Far Cry, Doom 3, Half-Life 1/2/CS, America's Army, Call of Duty, all the Medal of Honor titles didn't do well in comparison to RPGs? IMO, BF2 will make a huge splash; question is, How long?

I'm just curious as to how many accounts have been opened thus far in GW. It was over half a million some weeks back. Anyone know what it stands at roughly at this point?

I'll be glad when a game like the one mentioned above does come along to take some of the people's attention away from Guild Wars... gaming communities always go through these cycles and I've always liked it better when the people who are around are playing because they like the game (rather than because it's the new game on the block). Liking a new game and liking an older game are two very different things.

Hehe, HL2 is still in the top 10 after how many months? Good FPS sell BIG!

They just make their money up front, not via a fee for on-line play

they won't be selling HL 2 soon since the deal between Valve and Viviend is going to be taken off..... soon people that want to get HL2 would have to download it off the website (aka steam)

Yeah, but games like WoW, GW, The Sims are up in the top 3's all the time. You only see really high-profile FPS games like HL2 and Doom3 stay in the top 10 for so long.

MMOs are rarely in the top spot. How long was everquest in there?

Games with blizzard devs take the top spot regardless of genre or, quite often, quality.

Basically GW will lose a large portion of Twitch gamers, non RPG gamers that purchased the game because it was advertised as a RPG for Twitch gamers with Full on PvP when BF2 is out.
In the UK GW has only just made it into the top 10, infact it has only just been reviewed in UK gaming mags. GW isn't a big a hit as WoW in europe as a rule of Thumb, which probably also accounts for the fact that american servers are always busy, but europeans are not in comparision. (they are in no way enmpty, just not as busy)

Amen. A section of the gaming community likes to "sample" through their gaming lives. Play L2 then go to WoW, then go to EQ2, then go to CS:S then go to GW then move on to BF2 or DnL or whatever the heck makes th next splash. It's the very nature of such gamers to base likeabilities of a product on it satifying all of their own million-odd peculiar demands. Which no product does and that incites the said gamers to whine, moan and whine more where ever they go.

It's a small fringe as far as the pan-gaming community goes, but it is the most vocal at whining and b1tching (by their very nature). I won't be sad at seeing the backs of a few of their ilk on their way out of here.
