Healing Monk Census
fawgre
So, since Healing (truly Healing) Monks are so darn rare, I figure it would be helpful to all the non-monks out there if there was a list of Healers they could snap up, either for a quick party or for a guild invitation.
If you intend to play as a healer (secondary focuses are fine, but the main focus of your build should be healing or support healing), post your info here.
• Nickname if it's different from your forum name.
• Character name, preferably your healer, that you will sustain in-game (and not delete right away) so people can contact you. Also, any additional contact information you want posted.
• PvE, PvP, or balanced?
• Would you serve as the main healer or are you more geared towards support healing and some extra function (please specify your other function)?
• If you don't have a guild, are you looking for a guild or just a party every once and a while?
• If you have a guild (and hopefully you want to play with people outside of your guild), what is it's name/can we have a link?
Optional information, such as:
- Your secondary profession, and what you use it for.
- The focus(es) of your healing build(s), if it's anything but healing.
Also, guilds looking for monks, please keep posts to a short [intention of wanting monks] and [link to forum post advertising guild and/or guild website] so we don't clog this thread with guild advertisements.

Bgnome
ive ran a mo/ra for a while named Beastmaster Gnome. he is primarily a healer, but i have played around with smiting, pet builds, and so on. i havent played much PvP and most usually PvE but i can hold my own and have turned the tide in several situations. i do not profess to be one of the best monk players out there but i think i do a good job. i have wandered through a few guilds but not really settled yet. most seem a bit too serious or hardcore for my tastes. i am more casual so may not be around all that much, and after retail, this will be the second character i work on. but feel free to add me to your buddy list or something as i am always open to lending a hand.
fawgre
It occurs to me that I should do this, as well.
- Character name: Fawgre the Seraphic [also reachable at [email protected] or through private messages here].
- Play style: Balanced, but leaning towards PvE until I can get my bearings. I'd like PvP more if I wasn't the Prime Target.
- Main healer in small groups with some protection spells thrown in. Secondary healer in huge groups, focusing on protection and keeping the main healer alive.
- I have a guild, but I'd like to branch out and play with a more diversified group of individuals. Plus, who knows how many guild members are going to be on at any given time.
- My secondary professions are either Necromancer or Elementalist. The Necromancer is for small groups, usually when I'm just pairing up with my warrior friend, so I can help out in the damage area and fend for myself a bit by stealing health. The Elementalist secondary is used for larger groups when I need wards for protection and the Aura of Restoration so I can stay alive.

Granamyr
This is a great idea.......helps us monks out too. It's nice to have a capable monk on your team healing.....it's something else entirely when a monk has to depend on a good team to do all of the damage. There's nothing more frustrating for a monk than when the team gets you killed trying to heal them.
Mo/Mes: Granamyr White - At the Wilds
El/Mo: Granamyr Red - At Lion's Arch
Mo/War: Granamyr Blue - At 3rd Mission
They're all dedicated healers.

Rizzen Khalazar
I will most likley play a dedicated healer. But not sure yet as I am leaning towards the Warrior/Monk build.
Monk/Warrior or Monk/Mezmer will be the Dedicated healer I make.

Mo/Mesm
Entirely for healing purposes with the mesmer to simply use channeling (to save 1 energy each heal) and a few drain spells (again, to get some energy)

I'm probably going to be a healer as well.
monk/(dont know yet, I guess it doesn't really matter because i'm going to be putting all my attribute points in monk)
I like to be the main healer in small/large groups.
I like both pve and pvp, But I'll do more pve.
I just like the feeling of being a support character, and the group's healer. It's something different too, I mean almost any game can you swing wildy with a sword, but not many can you be a totatlly different role, healing.
Question: My specific needs is to be the groups main healer. Should i bother spending points in protection spells?

Name: Flonne Kurei
Status: lvl 13 Monk/Mesmer
Farthest destination reached: LA
I was originally planning to go collect Monk and Mesmer skills to participate in pvp, but that may not be necassary if they open up all skills for pre-mades.
Whisper me if you need a hand, I'm especially sympathetic to those stuck on the Gates of Kryta.
ratatass
I am a true healer.
I play two Monk/Elementalists.
PVP : Ratatass I, Rank 2.
PVE: Ratatass II, Level 7.
The focus for the PvP Healer is monk spells (Healing, Divine -14). I have no defense, all healing. The only spell I have from the Elementalist Line is the Glyph to save some energy.
I am an extremely soft target and very dependent on a support healer if I have two warriors on me. One is fine.
The PVE monk runs a balalnced build. with Conjure flame, Firestorm from elementalist line. The rest is healing. Again - no defense.
Edit: 14 Healing prayer , 14 Divine favor - I guess that qualifies as a true healer
Messenger: [email protected]
If you don't find me in game with those names : Try Ratatass Amundson. He is my Warrior/Monk.

PrimeHealer
I will be a true healer. Ive been playing MMO's for about 6 years now and have played nothing else but healer types. I am choosing to be a monk/mes my name is Valgard Whitelight, I will play for PvE and PvP aspect of the game and am really looking foreward to it. So far I am not guilded but I am in the search for one or will find one when the game comes out. I think of myself as a very skilled healer and have had many compliments on my mana/energy conservation. If anyone cares to group up I am always willing to do so just send me a message in game. I will be playing the beta weekend of the 15th as well. Hope tp hear from some people soon.
Healers are the best! For everyone is thier pets! hehe

PvP.
Main Healer.
Just looking for a tomb group every now and then.
House Forsaken
Best way to contact me is via xfire (stylin215). I only join tomb groups that have TS or Vent running. I come from three years of DAoC, most of that on the pvp server.
Hiraya
In Game Name: Hiraya Manawari E/Mo
I like playing backup healer (group healing and keeping the primary Mo alive)

Acan Vishnu
Game name is the same as here: Acan Vishnu (Mo/El)
Level 20 RP character, playing mostly PvP nowadays when I'm not with my guild.
Running pretty much entirely monk stuff, occasionally throw a glyph in there for some extra energy management. Play either healing or protection, depends what the group has need of.
Also have a new character: Nagash Vishnu (Mo/Ne) level 11 or 12... somewhere in that range anyway, up to Lions Arch so far, but planning on using my level 20 and pre-builds for PvP mostly.

Owend
Owend Gull
L5 Monk/Warrior
PvE (at first)
Hope to be Primary Healer
Owend is a simple monk with a martial streak. He is now camping in the dusty ruins of post-searing Ascalon. Owend will be looking for a group of adventurers to join. Exploring the land and learning to heal a group are his goals. Face the enemy squarely and Owend will cover your back!

Skizzle the Curado
I am straight up nothin but healin. My name is Skizzle the Curado, curado in spanish means cured or healing. I can be reached at [email protected] or joueur0o on AIM. The thing I like about healing in GW is I actually have to work really hard, in other games like eq it was just click...click....click...etc. In GW you have to make split second decisions that can effect the whole outcome of the battle. Sometimes you really have to know your team, like when 2 people die and you only have time for resurrection, you have to decide who is more important.
oscarmac
I have a PvP main healer Mo/Me
I also have a PvE El/Mo, with a focus on fire magic and healing. I enjoy being the main healer for my PvE parties.
I have a guild, http://www.tov-guild.com/, but I like to PvE more than most in my guild. I'm most easily contacted at [email protected].
My PvE char is lv 14, and has made it as far as Riverside Provence.
In-game name is Oscar Makenzie (or some variation thereof)

I have a primary healing monk - Deathz Angel (Mo/W). I play both PvE and PvP. I am the guild leader of Archangels of Death.
Warrior secondary for defensive purposes.

Uthar
Uthar Lanx be the name, lads and lasses. Healing, Divine Favor (Gotta love it) and energy-tapping Monk able to keep going when things get difficult. (Unless I die, in which case, I can't)
I may also be making a good ol' Protection Monk soon, too.

Katera
I have all monks. The two I use the most are:
Katera Luna- Mo/Me: My guild only had one healer, so this was kind of an all around healer He/Pr/DF. Now that we have some additional healers, she will be Healing/DF, and some have mesmer attributes for gaining energy if I am in a group where I may need this. This is also my main RP character.
Saint Haeven- Mo/Wa: Protection and removal Monk. PvP only. I may be changing the secondary, but will keep the name.
I will fill whatever role is needed. I have two additional healers whose names will change upon release. One is an Elem/Mo...half healing/half nuking. It is only around a level 7 since I remade during last beta.
I enjoy PvP most of all. Feel free to message me for Tomb or 4v4 when that is available.
I have Teamspeak and Ventrilo. I would really prefer to play with teams who use them, but it is not an absolute requirement.
My Guild is Xion Nights (XN). www.xionnights.com

Nemesis Furiae is my PvP healing monk/el build. will probably change her to a monk/mesmer.
edit: yep, changed her to a mo/me. she's a PvP monk, but when we go retail i'll probably build her up from PvE. in the PvP i did last wkend at least i was the main healer. the group that we got to HoH with (or rather would have, but with less that a minute left, and almost everyone on the other team dead, the BWE ended. BAH!) had one primary healer, one primary protector and one "bait" that used smiting with a warrior secondary. wish i could remember the names of the others, they were good, especially for a PUG.
am already in a guild, but i'll tomb with just about anybody. i do like to play other builds and not always be the healer, but for some reason there's just too few good healers so i have to play her more often than not. actually, i went and looked at Ensign's monk post and my build is almost exactly that, but i didn't think to use channelling (should have) and had energy tap instead and healing touch instead of healing seed since i seemed to get targetted early on as easy kill. with the mesmer secondary there were very little times where i would be completely with out healing potential for long.
we're changing guildname come retail, and don't have a site yet.

Zyraki
I'm Played a Monk / Elemental in this last BWE, but will prob choose Monk/Necromancer as my main once released.
Character Name is: Zyraki Nadoos
Character Name is: Zyraki Nadoos
funbun
Name: Priestess Tonia
Type: PvE only
Primary: Healer/Smiter
Secondary: Elementist (fire)
Weapon of Choice: Customized Holy Staff
Guild: Sisters of Charity (SoC)
I reached level 8 during the last BWE. I mostly just healed others completely their missions. I may change to Mo/R. It would be nice to have a pet to use as a tanker.
Mo/Me would be could to get more anti-buffs and to increase energy levels.

Nudge
I will have both a PvP and PvE version of myself, named Nudge Fellenglade. I'm solely a healer, (12 healing 12 divine favor), and my strongest healing attribute is energy recovery, using two different spells that make space for more energy.
Kha
I will have a monk. I'm not sure if it will be PvE/PvP or PvP only. Depends on character slots and if I still plan to play my other characters first. But my monk will probably keep the name Not The Monk, so if you need someone to group with just look me up
The Human Torch
I tend to go back and forth between two healing monk variations-El/Mo and Mo/Wa. The elementalist version has over 100 energy and things like aura of restoration to heal me while I heal others. The Mo/Wa uses the warrior's defensive stances to help me survive in close combat and the primary monk lets me use divine favor, which is a nice complement to my healing. For the actual release of the game, look for The Human Torch, my El/Mo that I plan on switching between elementalist focus and monk focus whenever needed (I <3 attribute refunds). Because I'll need lots of quest completions for this to work, I plan on playing an even balance of PvP and PvE after I ascend. I'm currently looking for a semi-serious PvP guild with a good amount of members that doesn't require teamspeak (unless they can explain to me how to get it and make it work). Let me know if I fit your criteria!
Juhanah
• Nickname..: First name is always Juhanah (unless i play warrior)
• Character name..: Juhanah Hajar
• PvE, PvP, or balanced?: PvE
• Would you serve as the main healer..: healing and protection are my main attributes. I can keep a party alive easily as long as they don't play kamikaze. In that case, having a secondary healer is apreciated
• If you don't have a guild..: I got a small guild with my friends.
• If you have a guild..: Name is Na Rak tag is [NrK](will maybe change when the game is out)
Optional information, such as:
- Your secondary profession..: illusion Mesmer, Mostly used when i solo or when no one need healing.
- The focus(es) of your healing build(s)..: Keeping the party alive.
When the game will be out, i plan of staying in pre-searing Ascalon until i finished every quest there is to do.
I am also not the kind of person who run through mission avoiding most fight to finish it faster. I usualy take my time and kill every monster there is to kill and doing side quest if i'm able to.
Sometime i got yelled at because i wasn't attacking monsters. If i'm not attacking it's because i'm watching the party window and healing people. If no one needs heal, then i will attack.
Beside that, If i get called by a friend and we're in a mission, you can be sure i will finish the mission before joining my friends. I'm not the kind of leaving a mission in the middle... unless i solo. But even then i usualy finish the mission anyway.
So you can call me in game when you need help(not the kind of help such as "gibme wempot or i wan mooney").
If you recieve no answer, just keep calling me i will answer eventualy.
..Oh and i'm french so just forget about my bad english. I play on American world even tho i'm french..(and i'm not from France but from Canada)

-Focus: I play mainly a main healer type of character, focusing on Healing spells with a few energy management spells thrown in for when times get tough.
- Guild: Currently in the Dynasty Knights Guild (name may change for final release), but I an fully willing to party with just about anyone when I am free.
-Secondary Profession: In the last beta event I played as a mesmer secondary and enjoyed it so will probably stick with that.
So there it is, my Healer in a nutshell.

I'm pretty new to the forums and to GW, so hello!
• Character name: Rotcod
• Balanced, I'd like to PvP once I get used to GW.
• I'd like to be the main healer, running around frantically trying to keep everyone alive... I love doing that in games. I'd also like to have some mesmer skills so I can steal energy and disrupt.. or maybe necromancer... I don't know yet.
• I'm in a guild, but I'd love to group with anyone willing.
• Servants of the Shrub ... We aren't really offcially a GW guild, but several of its members are getting GW so I have to maintain some loyalty to my 2 year guild from Star Wars Galaxies.

I'm thinking about going Mo/Me or Mo/R for release.
I would like Mesmer as a secondary just for the energy management. I like Ranger for Wilderness survival skills.
In other words, I plan to make my character a healer/general support character either of these 2 secondaries would do that.

• Character name: Savior of Souls Mo or Mo/Me
• PvE
• Being a main healer would be fine
• Dont have a guild, may shop around, not intently looking for one though
• Also, if i am not on my healer i will be on my tank (sgt allen w/mo) and you can contact me there, i may not start up my monk until the second or third day of official release

when all else fails, you can take Archon Soul within
for love of healing and this is the best reward what healer can get!

My "main" monk is Caduceus Hippocrati. In the last beta event, I was running him as a monk/ranger...not for the pet or bow, althought I used them some, but rather for to try out some of the wilderness survival skills-like speed boost.
However, I didn't really get a chance to use them much and did no PvP which was my reason for checking out those skills. PvP survivability is a subject of much concern to me. I've still not decided what secondary profession will most enhance this for me.
It seems to be almost a "rock-paper-scissors" conundrum. Take some speed skills and you'll get "hamstrung", made lame or frozen. So you need skills to break/end conditions as well which takes ability points away from the evasion skills and also your healing.
Alternatively, a monk can take a mesmer secondary to keep his energy up and hope to heal himself long enough for his teammates to finish off his attackers. But without some speed/movement enhancement to "spread out" the attackers, the monk will be subject to both caster and melee attackers simultaneously so and thus potentially lose the advantage extra energy gives him much more quickly.
As you can see, I'm keenly aware that a monk's role in PvP is not simply to be the healer. Rather I hope to devise some tactic(s) that turn his seeming vulnerability and status as the "first" target into an advantage for the rest of my team. This can best be accomplished by surviving, either by escaping damage or being able to take much more damage than the attackers expect. Either way, the goal is to allow my team to kill the attackers while they are focused on killing me.
Knowing which secondary accomplishes this best for me will likely have to wait until I get close to level 20. Some of the variables I'm unsure of yet are: 1) how much ability I'll need to stick in some skills to make them effective against casters using their primary skill sets to attack me, 2) how long do I need to survive in order for my teammates to kill off enough of the opponents to ensure victory, 3) how much can I spread out my abilities and still have my healing high enough to be effective.
There is more of course and the answers can only be approximate since any choices I make will work better against some opponent build mixes and less well against others. Which is why I started out by saying my "main" monk. I fully expect that I'll need more than one to be truly effective against different guilds.

• Character name, preferably your healer, that you will sustain in-game (and not delete right away) so people can contact you. Also, any additional contact information you want posted.
Phaedrus Jubatus
• PvE, PvP, or balanced?
Balanced, generally geared toward PvE.
My main build is a Mo/R right now for traps and rituals. When I'm going PvE I tend to take an animal too if the area's under level 25.
• Would you serve as the main healer or are you more geared towards support healing and some extra function (please specify your other function)?
Primary healer, though my build easily allows support healing and heal chains. I'll stock up on protection if we don't have a protection monk, but I'm pretty much just full of heal.
• If you don't have a guild, are you looking for a guild or just a party every once and a while?
No guild, but I'm always up for helping.
