Ok its seem common knowledge that the purchasable update is due 1st quarter of 06.
But my thinking is that it will have to be an entirely new game. We will not be able to associate with those players who have not purchased the upgraded?? If theres new content weapons armour and proffesions then surely we will not be able to bring them into Guild wars part one and trade them???
So will that mean we start at lvl 1 again?
Hows will the new update part 2 work

All future chapters will be designed for level 20 characers, and were did you hear it would be available 1st quarter '06?(1st half maybe, but not first quarter)

I though ANet said first half of '06

hmm i havn't seen it mentioned anywhere yet. although they did say in they're faq's "For upcoming chapters, we will continue to hold a small alpha test, and the decision on beta testing will be made later this year"
That kinda tells me that the first expansion at the soonest will be come later this year. :P unless they wanna spring one on us

Each expansion will provide more content than typical for an expansion, as well ... that's why we call them Chapters, because each chapter we release will include approximately the same amount of new content as the original release. If I remember what they said properly, everything is going to be balanced so that even if you buy the expansion packs you won't be any more powerful than someone who hasn't, also you will be able to skip expansions so that someone with 1, 2 and 3 can play with someone with only 1 and 3.

:O great info
and to think there will be just am much content. w00t! SOLD!

I guess technically you won't be more powerful, but you will have new skills and items, so you'll have more strategic options, which will make you better.

But My main point is how will it work with the first game. It wont be able to interact due to new content getting into the first game???

Probably info about skills/weapons might stream to other users, but they won't have the ability to use these skills/weapons for themselves?

I understood the 'new content' to mean new story line, so I'm guessing there will be a whole new map.
I suppose there is enough room on the current map to maybe squeeze a new city in somewhere, or to add several new areas.. .. but for anything to be added that is worthy of paying money for.. it would have to be substantial new content..
I can see us having to scroll the world map further right or left for the new expansions.
as with regard new items like weapons... yea people who dont buy the expansion will probably be able to get their hands on the stuff.. but, lol.. I know I would be charging alot for it
[Nob] "WTB: new expansion uber l33t coffe maker."
[Snowman] "then go to the shops and buy the expansion"
[Nob] "cant I'm skint.. and its not worth it anyway"
[Snowman] "okay I'll sell you the coffee maker"
[Nob] "how much?"
[Snowman] "10 Sigils"
[Nob] "WHAT?.. but you get it for free by completing a mission"
[Snowman] "but I paid for the expansion."
