Curious about power
Diabolus
Hello!
I've been thinking and thinking and I'm just not sure how this game exactly shows how powerful someone would be.
In most other games I've played, it usually comes down to your level. Like im MU there were like 180 levels (ridiculous for leveling, and that's basically all you do in that game, and then fly around looking cool at 180).
But in those games, you got players who are not so good, good, pretty good, and amazing. How is this going to happen in guild wars? Is it going to happen at all? I know the level limit is 20, and that it's not too much of a job to get to that.
What really makes you more powerful than any other person at that level too? Isn't everyone going to end up all being level 20, and have only their build, skills and items that makes them different? Will it be possible to have a player walk into a town and everyone gawk at them in awe because of how powerful they look? I know I got that feeling in other games...
I like the idea how you aren't going to end up being singled out because you can't get powerful enough, or there's ridiculous limits on places you can go because you haven't spent years and years killing the same thing over and over again and watching your experience meter go up. But I'm a bit worried there's not going to be much to do in the area of developing your character once you're level 20.
I hope someone can reassure me that you won't get to a spot where you've done everything you can to your character to make it as powerful as possible, too early.
Thanks! Hope I haven't confused anyone - this was a bit hard to explain, and i've been blabbing a bit...

Currently if you want to show off your 733t status in GW then you'd dye your entire armour in black (because it's the rarest dye, plus you get to live out your ninja/matrix fantasies), that and earn yourself a pimp cane that you can wave about in town, by gaining fame in pvp (the higher the fame the... 'flashier' the cane becomes).

From what I hear, you can dye your armor and your hair. There are a few different armor sets per class but they're all crafted and everyone has access to the same ones. I would expect no one to look exceptionally cool compared to everyone else. Some people might have themes, and other people just toss together junk for the best stats.
Having mad skills and being renowned will probably be the best way to get that awe thing.

The same way how players in starcraft, warcraft 3, counterstrike, sports, and any other competitive game do it. You EARN your status. By your actions, not your material goods.
Then again, his name tells me he comes from a line of grinding games. Go figure.

Welcome to the forums, Diabolus.
You might want to look at this post by Freyas, and after that, you can click on the thread name at the very top right hand corner to read the rest of the thread. That thread is just one out of the many many others out there that talk about and discuss the level 20 cap.
The search button would love to be your friend! It's getting rather lonely from lack of use.

Ooops! Sorry for forgetting about the search... i'm so bad i never usually do that with other forums, I think I was thinking about it too much, which would explain the blabbing.

Thanks Sin, I completely understand now. I really like the idea actually - I didn't find much fun hitting the same monster over and over again much either.

Nobody carries weapons in town. Sorry, Pardners, but you'll have to check that six-shooter at the Sheriff's office, especially that one that glows.

But it's not a glowy weapon it's a glowy pimp cane you get from owning in PvP. I hear it glows more the pwnier you are. I assume it's not a weapon.
