Elemental Damage on Chaos Axe in PvE

What would be the best type of elemental haft to put on my chaos axe if I'm doing mainly PvE? Many of the painstakingly repeated pros/cons of the elements do not apply (I.E. The Ebon haft I have will not give armor to my party, and the Firey one won't attack 3 monsters simultaneously) so I was wondering what kind, if any would present the best type of damage. Are any elemental hafts useful or should I be looking for a sundering axe haft or something totally different?

No one has any insight into this? I think most other hafts don't appel to me, so I figure elemental is the way to go. But which?

Go for some other haft, if you can. If you seriously want elemental, earth, frost or lightning are ones you should look at.

Fire won't cut it against mobs with fire-resistance. (and there are lot of them.)
