Sounds like an easy way to have more customization added with less work for ANet. It's win-win

If you want to create a perfectly biased thread in order to promote an illusory image of support for your impractical idea, start a blog somewhere in cyberspace. By the way, NCsoft is the developer. ArenaNet is the host, which is a division of NCsoft. NCsoft produced a commercial game with, quite likely, funding from external sources. These stakeholders need to be appeased financially and marketing claims need to be upheld truthfully. NCsoft cannot assure stakeholders and potential customers of the truth value in their provisions if (usually) shabby player-created content makes it way into the official servers. Player-created content works with games such as and like Neverwinter Nights because those games do not rely on a central servers.
I realize that whatever I say won't you turn off from your idea, so I kept it short above: oppose. Impractical.

/support. I would love to stop looking like a f***ing vegetarian gunslinger. I already have an idea of what I want to look like...
However, I am bitter and jaded, and I doubt even a great team like NCSoft would go for this. Maybe Relic... <runs home to the RBs>

I'd like something with a little less grey. And this could finally make my character look somewhat different than every other Elementalist out there.

only support in a thread is pathetic. that way ur trying to make a.net think everybody supports the idea, while me, myself and I oppose because the only one who should tinker on this game is a.net, and its impractical.

I would like to stop wearing brown clothing that can't be changed by dyes. (druid armor btw)
Although wouldn't this require new updates for everyone every time someone makes new armor?

Rhombus, this thread is a petition, so it's kinda expected that the people that sign it support the idea, and as such the people who did not sign can be safely assumed to either not care or oppose it.
If you think that's completely anti-democratic or totally hypocritical, feel free to create a thread dedicated to the opposition and link it in this one.

NCsoft is the Publisher <-Pay for the game to be made and distribute it.
ArenaNet is the Developer <-Make the game and support it
I also believe that NCsoft is hosting the game servers.
You did get one thing right ArenaNet is an division of NCsoft but the rest was just wrong.

I would rather see something implemented more along the lines of the guild cape crafter.
You take you piece of armor drop it in a slot and then select different aspects of it to be changed. Say spikes on the shoulders or only one sleeve. There would be a set of choices you could have, with each one costing a few hundred gold. This way there is a limited number of graphics to support but a huge array of combinations for them to be in.

i think the ideas are great and would be nice to impliment new looks into the game. this is one good way of doing it. it is a little bit of a reach but could work. IMO there should just be a place to submit suggestions on what looks you want, and anet could to the real work. but then you would have everyone and they're dog submitting things.
at the same time i say i'm content with whats already there and am not one to always ask for more. but it would be a great addidion to the game

this would be more realistic. giving more options to changing what's already there would add a lot more variety to the game. and would'nt require as much change. what if you could change certain parts of you your tats with dyes? like the star in the middle of your chest could be gold, and the reast black. :O something like that. breaking up whats already there to give more of a variety.

I feel the game does need some more customization as far as looks are concerned. I don't feel completely 'unique' as I have run into a few people with the same look as myself.

This would be practically impossible. Unlike plugins like for the Sims, graphics for GW have to be based on textures and models available to everyone in the game world, otherwise only those who purchased the models and textures will be able to see the intended representations of the characters.
Sorry. Try again.

Post all the /supports you want folks(holding your breath and turning blue is optional), it's not gonna happen. If Anet had wanted to have something like that for the game they would have designed it with such a feature in the first place.
It's unrealistic and impractical.

The structure is their it's all down to whether A.net want to do it, and use mopre bandwidth for each differing model and texture. This idea might work of you bought you modes and new designs and they were implimented in a fortnightly patch. to cut down on bandwith. Or have an option for default models for those players who don't have fast connections or PC's

you may say i'm a dreamer, but i'm not the only one

This is what Anet had to say when asked if they would accept custom emblems for guilds:
So if they ever did accept any player designed armor and equpment, it would just as likely be available to everyone, and not just the guild that wanted it. Thus pretty much defeating the whole purpose of designing a set for your guild in the first place.
In order to maintain absolute security for every element of the game, we are not able to accept externally designed submissions for inclusion into Guild Wars. However, we have already hosted one official Guild Emblem Contest, and we plan to hold such contests on a regular basis. The emblems that are created in such a competition become available for general use, rather than the use of any single guild. We encourage guilds to consider taking part in such contests if they wish to see their emblem as a possible choice in Guild Wars

well, so that throws to the "private" orders out of the idea. but it hasn't killed it yet.
i'll update the discussion thread with this. thanks!
