I am currently in Post-Searing Asclaon, and have done a few missions. I unlocked piken square, the northern wall, and sardelac, and will soon get to fort ranik. How far am i from being able to actually capture elite skills?

They "fixed" it so that there are no elites before The Crystal Desert I believe. So....a long long time.

you cant even get SoC's until LA if i remember right

Here's a spoiler free idea of where you are in the game.

Pre-Searing Ascalon
Old Ascalon (where you are)
Zone 1
Zone 2
Zone 3
Zone 4 (here's where you can get a couple elites)
Zone 5 (here's where you get most of your elites)
Zone 6 (here's where you get the rest of your elites)

You've got about 3 more missions before you even get out of Old Ascalon to Zone 1.

It was done in the very first patch.

It was fairly obvious as you could capture elites such as Healing Hands right outside LA, and 100 Blades a quick run outsde of Ascalon City just to name a few. Then *poof* all the elites were gone up until the Crystal Desert area.

This sucks, but on the other hand makes it more valuable. In my opinion btw, some of those elites are pretty lame.. sorry.
