Id half to agree with jonnylange, get rid of the map warping, how unrealistic, not that making meteors fall fromt the sky or raising bone monsters from dead people is realistic
. But those are the reasons we play the game. Mabey make it so map warping can only be done from town to town, not mission area to mission are. This topic isnt worth the breath im putting into it.

"Tengu Wings": Item; Failure Rate: None
When used inside a dungeon, player is instantly returned outside.
"Wings": Level 16 Sage Spell; Failure Rate: Often
Transports player to any previously visited castle. When used inside a dungeon, player is instantly returned outside. There are some dungeons where this spell (and similar abilities) will not work.
I think the idea was to rampage around within the map. Not from town to town.
ex. Riding from Lion's Arch to the south of Kessex's Peak to do the longest mission. Riding through monsters and gaining attack and defence bonuses. Having the ability carry extra items via saddle bags. Which will be fun if the mount dies and other 'funness' related to being 'saddled' with a mount.
On foot you have to slug it out like the other peons.
Quit being so goddamn narrow minded.

I AGREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are people so against mounts in this game?? Map Travel? What if I want my level 20 to travel to Dragon's Gullet? Yes, I can map to Piken... Map travel brings you to cities, but the coolest places to visit aren't in the cities, they're out in the field! People are concerned with breezing through quests, but what if a mount was an end game "purchasable" reward? I would completely drain all of my savings to get a mount in game. Perhaps it could be a skill that you must equip, and maybe you wouldn't be allowed through portals with it unless A: the rest of the party is dead, or B: the whole party is near your level (ie. 17/18+) or C: the rest of the party is visible on the compass map, or D: you are alone. This would prevent mounted players from rushing others through zones.
Mounts are a great idea!!! If thought about properly there is no logical reason to argue against having them... how could they harm the game if the above mentioned safeguards are put into place?
edit: please never ever get rid of map travel. I think mounts are more concerned with A: coolness and fun factor, B: in-instance travelling

magic carpets. use existing collectors and assorted npcs already in place. rent and ride. steerable. hovers at a constant 1 foot off of surface area. travels at 2x normal speed. must dismount to fight. picture something like the drop item button. max capacity 1 person. disappears whenever you enter a town.
A
That would be cool... and I would love to see it. I would probably use it too, although if given the choice I would prefer to use a mount.
What if the carpet's price was like 5p or 10p to keep people from abusing it, or what if it was like 2p and disappeared at a portal and not just a town. This way you wouldn't have a rush problem. And if someone is willing to pay the collective total of like 100p to rush to crystal desert, dammit they deserve to get rushed
but I'd still prefer mounts.
What if it was not just an end game quest reward, but a reward for ALL missions, bonuses and available quests.
This would give PvEers (those without any need to unlock all runes, etc.) a reason to finish all quests.
I would definately "grind" through every POST-SEARING quest to get a mount. (I say post cuz we can't go back to do the pre-searing missed quests any more...)
go mounts go!!! and even though I wouldn't use them much, go carpets go!!!!
