I've been messing around with this R/E build for a while now, and I'd like some input. The idea is to have a character that can withstand much damage and do "utility" work for the group.

Attributes:
Marskmanship: 10+2
Expertise: 9+1
Wilderness survival: 9+1
Earth magic: 7+1
Air magic: 5

Skills:

Obsidian flesh (E) - for preventing you from being targeted by enemy spells
Armor of earth - for +40 armor
Gale - 3 sec knockdown, useful for interrupting and harassing
Whirling defense - 75% block chance, good duration
Distracting shot - interrupt
Pin down - cripple
Penetrating attack
Troll unguent

I would appreciate any suggestions for making this build better.

I'd suggest just using Earth, and putting those points from Air into Expertise or Earth.
After all- you can only use Gale a couple of times a minute without losing too much energy. Maybe get a Ward spell or something.
Also, if Troll is your only skill using Wilderness Survival, why so many points?? For the sake of a pip or two of regen, you could get cheaper attacks (expertise) or better defense (earth).

Just my thoughts- I only use Air atm for my R/E. Wondered about Obsidian flesh- I would assume AoE stuff will still affect you if cast on someone else?

Edit- maybe if you had something that made more use of the knockdown from Gale, like Hunters Shot then keep it, but I'd still sugest moving some points from WS.

g'day mate ive been doin the same thing hey, but im using fire magic. I use conjure flame, mark of rodgart, glyph of energy (elite), pin down, dual shot, troll unguent, apply poison, distracting shot.

all that with a fire dmg bow and im set. i use the glyph of energy so i can use mark of rodgart alot.

ive found it very effective against monks and eles, but nothing else really. this is more of a fun char than a tank

Well riojin, your build doesn't look like a tank, but more of a direct damage build (you don't have even one defensive skill : ).

Piercehead, thanx for the suggestion, I just have to find a slot to squeeze hunter's shot in... Gale is a must have . Besides, with points from air, I would be able to get 1 more earth magic... and it's not really worth it for 2-3 more armor.

As for obsidian flesh, it gives +20 armor, and you cannot be targeted by enemy spells. You're still affected by AoE damage, but hey, elemental damage is hardly a problem with AL 100 + 40 from armor of earth . Also, wilderness survival is high not only for the troll, but for an occasional preparation I tend to swap from time to time.
