Request for Water Magic Improvement
free4all
Hello,
I am requesting that water magic be improved so that it is more competitive in PvE and PvP. The main thing with water magic is that it slows down movement rates. It should also slow down attack rates. It makes sense that if you are so cold that you move a lot slower, you shouldn't be able to swing that weapon as fast either. An effect similar to Faintheartedness (minus the health degen) would very nicely complement the slowed movement rate and would give water magic much more potential. As far as I know, it is the least commonly used element, and for good reasons. It is pathetic (generally speaking) in PvE. This would help balance it a lot.
Thanks.

An attack slowing ability would be great for a water skill but I don't think that it would be a good effect to just throw on skills as a secondary effect. It would make a great expansion skill.
I am currently playing a water elementalist and they are greatly underestimated. You really have to know what you're doing to play the water line well.

IF..... they get it off on em.
IF..... the monk doesn't move.
IF..... they aren't interrupted.
I would love to use more ice magic. As it stands now it's a magic type they threw in to annoy people running across the map... and that's about it.
I'd love to see some sick 3D ice attacks

I like having an icemage and a airmage together. ice them so they can't run and spread out then maelstrom and chainlighning the group

In tombs and relic capture maps the old water trident/arcane echo combo is great. The best part is that you don't need to dump a single point into illusion to be able to use it. It's easily available to a full water/energy storage build.

Ice Elementalists are best for snaring, not for damage. It's your job to impeded targets and keep them from moving to where they want to be.

Water Trident is one of the best offensive magic spells in the game. it's neat that when monks run out of the maelstorm they're going to get ROCKED by the water trident. Water does seem like the weakest element, but it's still got some nifty stuff.

I agree, but my point is that making it slow down attack rate would make it a LOT better, and more balanced. I don't think this would unbalance it at all.

Wouldn't it be logical that someone who's been "wetted" or is on ice, so to speak, takes extra damage from lightning? (On the flip side, a bit of damage reduction vs. fire..)

Yes, it would be more realistic, but probably not so great balance-wise.
In Ragnarok Online, air damage is doubled if it hits a frozen enemy. The wizard had a spell called "frost diver" that could freeze enemies, and another called "Jupiter thunder" that did insane air damage (kind of like lightning orb or chain lightning in this game, if not stronger.) In PvP, most wizards would go with that combo and kill people in 1 hit. In Guild Wars, I think air magic is already powerful enough, especially with all the air spike-centered builds, and fire is already bad enough in PvP.

Water magic seems to be a tool kit. The damage from those spells should be seen and used as a secondary ability. The effects are much more handy for pvping anyway. I hate to be captain obvious but come on. I love water trident. It cracks me up every time I use it.
