I need some advice

I have a few questions that I need help on.

Firstly , I want to sell this staff



Would I get more money from selling the staff as a whole or salvaging it and getting the +29 staff head?

Also, I want to upgrade this bow with a +21 bow grip :



Which would benefit me more? the +5 armor or the +21 grip?

Lastly , according to this web site defense bow grips only go to +4 armor , is this upgrade a rare , or is the site outdated?

The staff alone, is fairly worthless, but the mods are very nice. You would definately get more if you managed to salvage out the head/wrapping, but you risk losing everything if you fail.

On a side note, I'd be interested in buying both those upgrades if you DO salvage them since my staff is only +27hp and +16% enchanting . I'd even buy the staff as is, but would not pay much since i tend to fail 90% of my salvages on gold items .

I use expert salvage kits and have never got more than common crafting material from purple items (not found any gold yet)
Is there a way to increase the odds?

They made the odds beter with recent patch. I think it'll always work on a picked up item but not always on your armor.

Yeah man you just have gotten unlucky. I have found two vampiric purple bows with other mods on em too, but when I salvaged them both, I didn't get anything except like wood planks. That pissed me off so bad. I was like OH YEAH VAMPIRIC.... wait... 6 wood planks... lol just on a random tangent one time I was in the underworld I think, and a perfect damage purple longbow dropped for me, I was like OH YEAH. ID'd it... Damage +14% versus skeletons.... I was like, "is there a /killself command?" lol

That's only for Runes from monster armor, which now have a 100% salvage rate. You can still fail on weapon salvages, and fairly often if my experience is anything normal .

Btw , I also got stupid pieces of wood when I tried to salavage the staff with a expert kit . Well , at least I also got +30 Axe grip of fortitude when I salvage a rare axe , you get some you lose some I guess.

To the bow question, when I tried to put a vampic hilt into an already hilted sword, it said I couldn't. I don't think you can put the +21 into it and yes, +21hp is better than the armor (in my opinion).

Was it a firey sword?, because you cant re-hilt those, and every other mod, as far as I know, will replace an existing mod.

as for the bow,
ranger armor is 70or71 towards the end of the game, making +4or5 armor, not a very good upgrade for bows.
