Best farming?

Ok, other than war/mo or mo/war (which I've heard are best for PvE farming in the past) what would you guys say is the best at farming in PvE? (say, at level 20, so the highest end PvE stuff). On the same note, if all are about equal in terms of being able to solo farm, would a ranger/mo be pretty good at it?

I hear that Ranger/Monks are actually rated pretty high in terms of soloing ability.

As for farming, people usually do Riverside, or hunt for Drakes in Gates of Kryta.

When you camp one area due to the drops found in that area.

I've done solo PvE as a Ranger and Ranger/Monk...done pretty well at it really...great at making those long distance attacks. By the time some creatures get to you, they're dead or badly damaged. Also, taking the high ground in some cases keeps them from getting to you at all ...found a great bow whilst hunting dragons...picked it up as the last henchman died...ran like hell and came back to res the group (all henchies 'cause they behave themselves better than the group I ran with before)...I never finished the run alone (only level 13), but I made a good go of it and found some tasty goodies.

well im a lvl 14 W/NEC and i hunt in the shiver peaks solo atm and do pretty well for myself, havent made it to riverside yet and i know thats where the best farming is, but when i really need the cash i go hunt the breach and kill every single charr i can find, they drop hides and even sometimes pelts, in one run through of the breach i can pick up 30+ hides and maybe 2 pelts, plus other stuff i just salvage or sell

I'd vote for a R/Mo for the most straightforward pharming. W/Mos are more durable and will certainly get the job done - but they are *slow*. A well played W/Mo will get the job done, just be sure to have something else to do because it's going to take a couple hours.

R/Mos can run Tiger's Fury pretty much constantly, even when soloing, which speeds up the process dramatically.

/Mo is part of most soloing characters for the durability. When you're trying to solo the harder areas, speed isn't nearly as important as your margin for error, and /Mo simply gives you that margin.

The 'best' pharming character depends heavily upon the area, though. In New Ascalon, for instance, a high level Elementalist is easily the best pharming character as one can drop Charr packs in one shot. Basically what you use is always a tradeoff between speed and durability, and the easier the area, or the better the player, the more speed dominates.

Thanks Excalibur, I likely wouldn't have found that link on my own. So much to learn, so little time.

are you refering to New Ascalon as pre sear (green) Askalon?

Those places mentioned, are they in your own map? I mean, will there be other people there? I have heard that you get your own map when you leave an outpost? I dont know if this is confusing, but if anyone can understand my ramblings and can shed some light, would be appreciated.

The exploration area will be instanced. Only you, and whomever you invited into you party will be the ones on that map.

New Ascalon is post sear. I'd call pre-sear Old Ascalon if there wasn't an explorable area by that name. Rather inconvenient that. Think New Europe / Old Europe.
